Husband-and-wife duo John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey make their annual fall pilgrimage to Cafe Carlyle with an all-new show, American Stories, November 6-17. The New York Times recently described John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey as "the supreme nightclub act of our time." A world-renowned guitarist and singer, John Pizzarelli has been entertaining audiences for over 20 years and has established himself as one of the prime contemporary interpreters of the Great American Songbook. Jessica Molaskey is a veteran of a dozen Broadway shows including the revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Sunday in the Park with George, which was nominated for nine Tony Awards. The Morris Museum will launch its new Real to Reel Film Series on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 7:30PM in the Bickford Theatre. This documentary film series will provide a unique focus on the world around us and will be hosted monthly by Bruce Frigeri, an adjunct professor of film studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University. For each screening there will be a discussion with Bruce before the film to provide further insights.

This performance will feature guest artist Ingrid Jensen on trumpet, an Ossining resident and internationally renowned musician. Led by Malkin on tenor sax, the distinctive post bebop sound of the Collective interprets music of the classic era of mid-twentieth century jazz, from Miles Davis to John Coltrane. The group will play at WCT's Black Box at 23 Water St. at 8:00pm.

Arturo Sandoval is best known as a Latin trumpeter. But at their San Diego Bayside Jazz performance, his sextet displayed exceptional versatility. At tempos from ballad-slow to escape velocity, they rocked the waterfront with Latin, bop, funk and even a little metal rock. Sandoval, in addition to trumpet, played flugelhorn, keyboards, and timbales, with a few vocals and a lot of clowning around thrown in.

Mercer County Community College (MCCC) and the Trenton Children's Chorus (TCC) will host the 2018 Summer Jazz Institute, a master class for high school and college music students. The week-long instrumental and voice program, will be held Monday, July 30, to Friday, August 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at MCCC's James Kerney Campus at 102 North Broad Street, Trenton.

Karamu House President and CEO, Tony F. Sias notes, 'this is a piece that is important and relevant, and speaks to and engages our millennial and 'genZ' generations.' With book and lyrics written by Tony Award-winning singer-songwriter Stew, and music composed by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the production opened on May 10 and will run through June 3, 2018 in Karamu's Arena Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) today announces the appointment of trumpeter Michael Rodriguez to its faculty. Rodriguez, a Grammy-nominated musician renowned for his artistry as a composer and instrumentalist, joins the cadre of high-profile faculty members in the Roots, Jazz, and American Music (RJAM) program, which welcomed its first class, composed of some of the world's finest young jazz musicians, in the fall of 2017.
