Throughout the past year, Broadway has welcomed such film and television stars as Daniel Radcliffe, Patrick Stewart, Bryan Cranston, Debra Messing and Ian McKellen, as well as a slew of celebrated Broadway favorites such as Sutton Foster, Audra McDonald, Neil Patrick Harris and many more. The Great White Way isn't the only place for stars to shine on stage though. During the summer months, many cherished performers travel to regional theatres around the country to share their extraordinary talents with the rest of America. Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) just announced the U.S. premiere of the new musical, AMERICAN PSYCHO, featuring a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (2ST's Good Boys and True, 'Glee,' Broadway's Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark), music and lyrics by Grammy and Tony-Award Winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), directed by Rupert Goold (Broadway's Macbeth with Patrick Stewart, ENRON). AMERICAN PSYCHO is based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis.

Bay Street Theatre previously announced that its 23rd Annual Summer Gala would take place in Sag Harbor at the Long Wharf tonight, July 12, 2014 to benefit Bay Street's educational and theatrical programs. The chairs of the event are longstanding patrons of the theater and the arts, Christine Wachter-Campbell & Bill Campbell, and Pia & Jimmy Zankel.

Are you the next Broadway or pop sensation? The Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA is looking for the next 'Signature Idol,' as the popular Signature Idol Competition returns for one day only during the theatre's annual Open House on August 2nd. Held in Signature's MAX Theatre, the competition enters its fifth year with a panel of three celebrity judges in search of the best undiscovered singers in the DC region.

Pride Films and Plays announces the world premiere of The Book of Merman, a new musical comedy by Jeff Award-winning author Leo Schwartz. The show will open on January 17, 2015 at Mary's Attic, 5400 North Clark Street.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Producer Stephen M. Kaus just announced the full cast and creative team for The Visit, which runs on the Main Stage from July 31 through August 17.

Virginia's Signature Theatre opens its' air-conditioned doors once again for the annual Sizzlin' Summer Nights Series. For two and a half weeks, Signature's intimate cabaret venue hosts an eclectic mix of Signature favorites, DC-area stars, and some of New York's most exciting performers. The cabaret series runs today, July 9 through July 26, with a different performance each night.

Today in 2011, the first Broadway revival of Master Class opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, where it ran for 67 performances. Master Class is a play by Terrence McNally, which opened on Broadway on November 15, 1995 at the John Golden Theatre, where it ran for 598 performances. The original cast included Zoe Caldwell, Audra McDonald, Karen Kay Cody, David Loud, and Jay Hunter Morris. Caldwell and McDonald won Tony Awards for their performances in 1996. Tyne Daly starred as Callas in a summer 2011 revival of the play at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Pride Films and Plays is delighted to present LezFest: A One Night Fling, a celebration in words, songs, music and theater on July 28 at 7 pm at Mary's Attic, 5400 North Clark. Join PFP for an evening all about ladies who love ladies who are artists, showcasing a vast mix of Chicago's best and brightest women taking the stage and sharing their talents. Featured performers include Christy Hasselson (2006 winner of Windy City Gay Idol), renowned storyteller Lauren Sivak, singers Liz Pazik and Libby Lane, performances artists Angelica Roque and Rebecca Kling, and Chicago stage star Ali Hoefnagle.
