New York City is the place where stars flock to take their turns on the grandest stages in the world. Throughout the past year, Broadway has welcomed such film and television stars as Daniel Radcliffe, Patrick Stewart, Bryan Cranston, Debra Messing and Ian McKellen, as well as a slew of celebrated Broadway favorites such as Sutton Foster, Audra McDonald, Neil Patrick Harris and many more.
The Great White Way isn't the only place for stars to shine on stage though. During the summer months, many cherished performers travel to regional theatres around the country to share their extraordinary talents with the rest of America. Bay Street Theatre previously announced that its 23rd Annual Summer Gala would take place in Sag Harbor at the Long Wharf tonight, July 12, 2014 to benefit Bay Street's educational and theatrical programs. The chairs of the event are longstanding patrons of the theater and the arts, Christine Wachter-Campbell & Bill Campbell, and Pia & Jimmy Zankel.

Oscar® winner Mike Nichols ("The Graduate," HBO's "Angels in America") will direct Academy Award® winner Meryl Streep ("The Iron Lady," "Sophie's Choice") in MASTER CLASS, HBO Films' adaptation of the Tony Award-winning play of the same name by Terrence McNally, who will adapt his work for the screen, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO programming.

Today in 2011, the first Broadway revival of Master Class opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, where it ran for 67 performances. Master Class is a play by Terrence McNally, which opened on Broadway on November 15, 1995 at the John Golden Theatre, where it ran for 598 performances. The original cast included Zoe Caldwell, Audra McDonald, Karen Kay Cody, David Loud, and Jay Hunter Morris. Caldwell and McDonald won Tony Awards for their performances in 1996. Tyne Daly starred as Callas in a summer 2011 revival of the play at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
