PFP's LezFest Raises Funds and Awareness for Women's Words, 7/28

Pride Films and Plays is delighted to present LezFest: A One Night Fling, a celebration in words, songs, music and theater on July 28 at 7 pm at Mary's Attic, 5400 North Clark. Join PFP for an evening all about ladies who love ladies who are artists, showcasing a vast mix of Chicago's best and brightest women taking the stage and sharing their talents. Featured performers include Christy Hasselson (2006 winner of Windy City Gay Idol), renowned storyteller Lauren Sivak, singers Liz Pazik and Libby Lane, performances artists Angelica Roque and Rebecca Kling, and Chicago stage star Ali Hoefnagle. Our MC for the evening is Shanna Brown.

Tara Branham directs, and the evening is produced by Libby Lane and Chrystle Morman.

General Admission tickets for LezFest are $10. VIP tickets are $30 and include program recognition and reserved seating. A VIP Two-some ticket is $50 and includes two drink tickets, program recognition, and reserved seating for two. PFP's Women's Words Weekend is September 19 to 21 at Center On Halsted's Women's Words Weekend, which features plays, performances, writing challenges, celebrating works for the stage or screen written by women with lesbian characters or themes.

Season and History

PFP's 2014-15 begins with the Chicago premiere of Terrence McNally's Some Men running August 14 to September 13 at Rivendell Theater, 5779 N Ridge.

Pride Films and Plays will soon announce a season of full productions that runs parallel to our developmental programs of LGBT works for the stage and screen. Our recent Gay Play Weekend set box office records at Center on Halsted. Women's Words Weekend (September 19 to 21) features plays and screenplays written by women with lesbian characters or themes, and Gay Film Weekend (November 14 to 16) features GLBT screenplays and screenings, and will be in the Center on Halsted's Hoover-Leppen Theater.

Marty's Community Day is our fall fundraiser at Marty's Martini Bar, 1511 West Balmoral, on September 24.

Founded in 2010, PFP is a script and screenplay development company that works with an international network of writers to develop work with LGBT characters or themes. PFP won 2 Jeff Awards in 2013 for Best Musical and Best New Work for Leo Schwartz's Under A Rainbow Flag, and 1 Jeff Award in 2014 for The Children's Hour. PFP's At The Flash performed at the Dublin International Gay Fest recently, and David Leeper was nominated for Best Male Performer, and authors Sean Chandler and David Leeper were nominated for Best New Writing.
