Iggy Pop Life Class Opens November 4, 2016 at the Brooklyn Museum

In Iggy Pop Life Class, Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller uses the traditional life-model drawing class to stage a performative event with Iggy Pop as model and subject. The resulting drawings, created by twenty-two participating artists, will be shown at the Brooklyn Museum from November 4, 2016, to March 26, 2017. Along with works depicting the male body selected from the Museum's historical collections, the exhibition examines shifting cultural representations of masculinity across history.

A SECOND CHANCE opened to mixed reviews at the Public Theater, and now Ghostlight Records has released the schmaltzy jazz musical's original cast recording, which is worth listening to.

Roundabout Theatre Company is currently presenting the Violet, which plays a strictly limited engagement at Broadway's American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd Street) through August 10, 2014. Based on the short story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim' by Doris Betts, Violet features music by Jeanine Tesori, book & lyrics by Brian Crawley and direction by Leigh Silverman. Violet is produced in association with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, David Mirvish, Barry and Fran Weissler, Elizabeth Armstrong, and Mary Jo and Ted Shen. Bernadette Peters to Ring the NASDAQ Bell Tomorrow, 7/11

Broadway star and animal advocate Bernadette Peters will visit the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square to ring the Closing Bell in honor of Broadway Barks 16 tomorrow, July 11, 2014. Peters will be joined by Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, as well as four puppies from Bide-A-Wee, one of Broadway Barks' participating shelters here in New York City at tomorrow's closing of the Nasdaq bell.

BROADWAY BARKS announces their 16th annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event featuring celebrities from the hottest shows on Broadway to benefit New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Founded by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, the event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will take place on Saturday, July 12 in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. where you can meet all the adoptable dogs and cats; celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters citywide will take place between 5-6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Only six weeks remain to see the Tony nominated production, which plays a strictly limited engagement at Broadway's American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd Street) through August 10, 2014.
