A Boca Raton audience got a double dose of entertainment last night as legendary actor, comedian, (and if you didn't know it WW ll hero) Marty Allen brought his show to the Boca Black Box. In true show biz tradition the audience was warmed up, or more accurately put thrilled and fired up by the exciting vocalist pianist, and songwriter, Karon Kate Backwell. She possesses all the excitement and talents of a Wayne Newton, Jerry Lee Lewis and Celine Dion. The audience gave her a standing ovation and so did her husband of 31 years Marty Allen.
The nominees for the 22nd annual CRITICS' CHOICE AWARDS for television were announced today. HBO leads the pack with 22 nominations, followed by ABC and Netflix who were tied with 14 nominations each. FX's 'The People Vs. OJ Simpson' picked up 12 nominations.

However, for the first time in Chopped history, Bobby Flay, culinary icon and host of Beat Bobby Flay, joins host Ted Allen and a rotating panel of Chopped judges through the three preliminary heats at the judging table, as each basket will feature a surprise ingredient selected by Bobby himself to stump the returning champs.The winner of each of the three heats will move on to a spectacular grand finale, as the final three chefs battle it out to see who will win $15,000, with the winner going up against Bobby himself in a bonus round to earn an additional $25,000. The Glimmerglass Festival, one of the most prestigious opera festivals in the United States, has appointed Allen Perriello as the Director of their Young Artists Program, beginning Summer 2017. Perriello will remain as Arizona Opera's Head of Music and Director of the Marion Roose Pullin Opera Studio, a post he has held since 2012.
