The Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts presents Tectonic Theater Project's groundbreaking play The Laramie Project and the new companion piece The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later, November 11-13, 2010. Now more relevant than ever, these two plays explore the impact that the murder of Matthew Shephard (12 years ago this month) had not only on the town of Laramie, Wyoming but also on our nation, and how the effect of that impact continues to be felt today. Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off its 35th Anniversary Season with PTC@PLAY, a new play festival running October 5-21 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). The Festival, with staged readings of works by established playwrights as well as new voices, features Casa Cushman, by Leigh Fondakowski in conjunction with the Tectonic Theater Project, Strongman's Ghost by Jeffrey Hatcher, What We're Up Against by Theresa Rebeck, How To Write A New Book For The Bible by Bill Cain and Milk Like Sugar by Kirsten Greenidge. All readings are free with curtain time at 7:00 PM.

Following on the heels of last year's sensational Il mondo della luna at the Hayden Planetarium, Gotham Chamber Opera announces that The New 42nd Street presents, at The New Victory Theater, a Gotham Chamber Opera and Tectonic Theater Project production in association with Blind Summit Theatre, Xavier Montsalvatge's El gato con botas (Puss in Boots), a stunning new production of the classic children's tale directed by Moisés Kaufman and conducted by Neal Goren, which will be presented in October 2010.
After directing 33 Variations (which was all about Beethoven), Moisés Kaufman knew he wanted to direct an opera next. 'I've staged classical music before, and it's unlike directing anything else,' he said.

This fall marks the fifth year of the successful partnership between Arena Stage-now home in its expanded venue the Mead Center for American Theater in Southwest D.C.-and the Georgetown University Theater and Performance Studies Program.
