New York theater troupe Tectonic Theater Project will join our inaugural season with the national tour of The Laramie Project Residency. Written and directed by Tony and Emmy Award nominee Moisés Kaufman (Broadway and Arena's 33 Variations), The Laramie Project Residency features both The Laramie Project and The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, which debuted last fall with 150 simultaneous readings around the world, including one hosted by Arena Stage. The New York Times has announced that Ethan Hawke, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Natasha Lyonne will star in the New Group's Blood From A Stone, the first production of the theater company's 2010-2011 season. Performances begin on December 13, 2010 at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row. The production will run through February 19, 2011.

After directing 33 Variations (which was all about Beethoven), Moisés Kaufman knew he wanted to direct an opera next. 'I've staged classical music before, and it's unlike directing anything else,' he said.
Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off its 35th Anniversary Season with PTC@PLAY, a new play festival running October 5-21 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). Dusk Rings a Bell, written by Stephen Belber will be performed at Atlantic Stage 2 as Atlantic Theater Company's final production of the season. The play will be directed by Sam Gold and will run May 19-June 20. Performances take place Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 PM.

Hillsdale High School Theater will present The Laramie Project March 24 - 28th. This landmark production chronicles life in the town of Laramie, Wyoming, a year after Matthew Shepard, a 21 year-old gay student, was kidnapped, severely beaten and left to die on the outskirts of the town. A month after the news of Matthew Shepard's death broke, the Tony award-winning, Broadway show producing, Tectonic Theater Project went to Laramie, and over the course of the next year, conducted more than 200 interviews with community members. From these interviews, Tectonic composed the play.
