The MUNY continues its season with an exuberant and colorful staging of HAIRSPRAY, the musical based on filmmaker and author John Waters' most accessible, and mainstream, movie. Of course, the master of bad taste allowed some of the rougher edges to get smoothed over in the process, but the core messages of understanding and acceptance in the face of prejudice and intolerance is still present, and that's what's truly important. Get out while the weather is gorgeous and take in the MUNY's fabulous production of HAIRSPRAY!

Prospect Theater Company is pleased to announce additional cast members for its 2015 annual gala, a Concert Evening Celebrating Women Making Musicals. This special one-night-only event will be held at The Times Center today, May 16 with an 8pm concert performance featuring Broadway and Prospect stars. The evening's program includes a diverse array of songs written or co-written by women, including encores of work from Prospect productions. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Prospect's ongoing mission to develop and produce new musical theater works by emerging artists.

Broadway Records announced that the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack of the movie musical, Life of an Actress, would be released on CD and digitally today, April 28th. Kylie Myers, a 12-year-old aspiring actress form Georgia, was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, on April 9, 2014. Since then, Broadway stars, companies, and thousands of people around the world quickly adopted her. And even though she had to miss her walk-on Broadway role, Kylie still made her Broadway debut this week on a billboard in Times Square.
