DANCE NOW is pleased to announce the lineup for the 2017 DANCE NOW Festival. Acclaimed for its adventurous short-takes format, the annual DANCE NOW Festival presents an eclectic array of works by some of today's most exciting dance makers. The 22nd season of this exuberant showcase will feature 40 emerging and established choreographers side by side, including DANCE NOW veterans and festival newcomers. The 2017 festival will take place Wednesday to Saturday, September 6-9, at 7pm, at Joe's Pub at The Public. A special encore performance will be presented on Thursday, September 28, at 7pm.
The Movement Theatre Company, a Harlem-based nonprofit committed to showcasing emerging artists of color, begins rehearsals for the premiere of And She Would Stand Like This by Harrison David Rivers, directed by David Mendizabal, choreographed by Kia LaBeija. Shakespeare & Company presents Shakespeare's Cymbeline, directed by Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer. This tale of love and passion, produced for the first time on the Company's Mainstage, runs in the Tina Packer Playhouse from July 4 to August 6, 2017. The production also marks a personal milestone for Packer, who, after opening her production of Cymbeline, will have directed all 37 plays in the Shakespeare canon. Yonder Window Theatre Company and Parity Productions have announced that writer/performer Romy Nordlinger's Places is among the selected performances for this year's East to Edinburgh at 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director). Places will play 6 performances in July before traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland for the 2017 Fringe Festival where it will have 25 performances over the month of August (4th - 27th).
