Toronto Music Luminaries Charles Spearin & Tamara Williamson to Appear in Concert at Silence Sounds

On Thursday June 28 at 8pm, 'Silence: Guelph's Portal For Adventurous New Sound Events' is delighted to be hosting a concert titled 'Audio Book with Charles Spearin and Tamara Williamson'. Both Spearin and Williamson have had active and influential musical careers in Canada since the 1990s, profoundly shaping the landscape of Toronto's music scene. Each will be sharing new works, ideas, and music in this intimate live performance. 

Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema Announces Film Lineup for 2nd Annual Event, Aug. 3-12, 2018

Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema announced today its film lineup of 110 films and the news that Regal Entertainment Group has signed on to become the lead sponsor for the 2nd annual 10-day event in Queens. While the festival organizers are saddened to leave the Kew Gardens Cinemas in Kew Gardens, they are very excited for what this means for the future of the film festival. For it's sophomore year, Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema will be moving into its new home at Regal Entertainment Group's UA Midway Stadium 9 in Forest Hills, Queens. From August 3rd to August 11th guests can enjoy films exhibited by state of the art projection and sound equipment in the comfort of Midway's recliner seats. The Opening Night Film at the Midway will be the New York Premiere of Ari Gold's award-winning and critically acclaimed “The Song of Sway Lake” starring Rory Culkin on Friday, Aug. 3rd at 6:30pm. On Sunday, August 12th, the festival's Awards Dinner Gala returns to Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

This episode features: Tamara Tunie who starred for 15 seasons as Medical Examiner Dr. Melinda Warner in the top-rated series 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.' Tunie, also, starred as Marie Van Der Veen, the matriarch and the "moral fiber" of a Native American tribe, on Sundance TV's THE RED ROAD. COMING SOON, Tunie stars in AMC's new series DIETLAND and the BBC/Netflix political drama "The Forgiving Earth".   She also appeared in the highly visible role of Alberta Green in season one of the hit series '24', as well as guest appearances on "Better Call Saul", "Blue Bloods", "Billions", "Alpha House", "Elementary" "Survivor's Remorse", "Zoo", "The Good Wife", 'Law and Order,' 'Sex and the City,' and 'NYPD Blue",  to name a handful.

SETTLE THIS THING Comes to Toronto Fringe

A few years ago BICK/ANTZIS created a YouTube video called Settle This Thing in order to have the Internet provide a solution to an ongoing argument they couldn't resolve on their own. Tamara Bick and Drew Antzis each laid out their argument and told viewers, "Vote for who you agree with and we'll live with the results." After a week the married couple tallied the votes and had a winner. Argument solved! "It's crowd sourcing to solve our fights," says Antzis, "and it worked!" The web series Settle This Thing was born.

BWW Review: NUNSENSE at The Gateway

Dan Goggin's Nunsense, now playing at Bellport's Gateway Playhouse, is certainly a treat. It was never officially on Broadway per se', but rather it has lead a very successful, thirty-three year life with consistent incarnations off-Broadway and at regional and local theatres. Running through June 23rd as part of Gateway's dazzling (and busy!) 69th season, this production is all about fun.

Thirteen year old Ajibola Tajudeen, better known as Keeme, is the host of New Paradigm Theatre's brand new web series debuting here on BroadwayWorld. "Konversations with Keeme" is show where Keeme interviews seasoned television and film professionals like Tamara Tunie of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Renee Lawless of Tyler Perry's The Have and the Have Nots, as well as Broadway veterans such as Emmy and Grammy winner,  Paul Bogaev, Emmy-nominated Scott Bryce, and Broadway pros Christine Dwyer, Kelly Grant, Juwan Crawley and more. 

International Songwriting Competition Announces Judges for 2018 Competition

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is pleased to announce its panel of judges for the 2018 competition. Established in 2002, ISC is the world's largest songwriting competition and is open to both professional and amateur songwriters, signed and unsigned. A total of 71 winners in 23 categories share in over $150,000 in cash and prizes, including an overall Grand Prize consisting of $25,000 (US) cash, and much more.
