University of Washington School of Drama Announces 2017 - 2018 Mainstage Season

Harlem Rep's THE WIZARD OF OZ to Close 8/20

'The Wizard of Oz,' presented by Harlem Repertory Theater and Yip Harburg Foundation, will now close August 20, 2017 after 26 performances.  A previously scheduled September 9 performance has been canceled. The production has played since October 8, 2016 at Tato Laviera Theatre, 240 East 123rd Street (near 2nd Ave.), Manhattan, and has been extended twice.

Moby Dick runs June 7 - September 3, 2017 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The Press Opening is Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

BWW Review: RING OF FIRE Captivates at Syracuse Stage

Syracuse Stage ends its season with the jukebox musical Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash. The musical, created by Richard Maltby Jr. and conceived by William Meade with orchestrations by Steven Bishop and Jeff Lisenby, features the familiar and well-loved music of Johnny Cash. So, expect to hear hits such as “Ring of Fire,” “Get Rhythm,” “Going to Memphis,” “Jackson,” “I Walk the Line,” just to name a few.

Tim Acito to Premiere Revised ZANNA, DON'T (the Reboot) at Theatre Horizon

Everything old is new again, and leave it to Tim Acito, writer of the 2003 off-Broadway hit Zanna, Don't, to prove that adage. The composer will premiere a brand new version of his beloved musical, appropriately called Zanna Don't (the Reboot), at Theatre Horizon for a one-night-only concert reading, part of the company's 42nd and Main Concert Series on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 7:30PM.

Syracuse Stage to Celebrate Johnny Cash

From the songbook of The Man in Black himself, comes the musical adaptation "Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash". Performed by a multi-talented cast of 10, the show features 38 Cash classics including "I Walk the Line", "A Boy Named Sue" and "Folsom Prison Blues". This lively musical about love and faith, struggle and success, and rowdiness and redemption, opens at Syracuse Stage on June 9 in the Archbold Theatre at Syracuse Stage/SU Drama Complex, 820 E. Genesee St. Preview performances are June 7 and 8.

Adventure Stage Chicago Season 14 Features AKEELAH AND THE BEE

???????Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC), the participatory arts program of Northwestern Settlement (the Settlement), announces its 14th season of programming for young audiences, exploring the theme of "Literacy" as the company applies its mission of telling heroic stories to the Settlement objective of disrupting generational poverty. ASC's "Literacy" season features the stage adaptation of Akeelah and the Bee; a commissioned work by Lucas Baisch, based on the Guatemalan myths of Popol Vuh and created in collaboration with community partners; and an original piece devised by ASC's Trailblazers youth mentorship program.  All performances take place at Northwestern Settlement's Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble St. Tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for youth aged 14 years and younger. Group tickets are $10 for ten or more guests. Student matinee tickets are $7 for CPS and $8 for non-CPS groups. Tickets may be purchased at adventurestage.org or by calling 773.342.4141.

New Adaptation of MISS JULIE to Debut at Access Theater This Month
