Klea Blackhurst Brings Everything The Traffic Will Allow To KPAC 11/20

Kingsborough Performing Arts Center's season of world-class Dance, Music, Theatre, and Family Shows continues on November 20th at 8:00 p.m. with Klea Blackhurst's Everything The Traffic Will Allow: The Songs & Sass of Ethel Merman, a critically-acclaimed show that is Klea's loving tribute to the songs made famous by the legendary stage personality Ethel Merman.

Gustafer Yellowgold's Show Returns to the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre 11/20

It's been two years in the making and won't be released until February, but NYC area families will have a sneak preview before Thanksgiving, when the multimedia Gustafer Yellowgold's Show returns home to the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th St., NYC, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, on Gustafer's "Top of the Sock Tour."

Symphony Space Presents Stam-Pede 1/9

Gotham Arts Exchange and Symphony Space present Stam-Pede, an afternoon of the very best in percussive dance by eight celebrated companies. From soulful flamenco to lively Irish dance to innovative body percussion to exhilarating tap dance and mesmerizing Bharatanatyam, this impressive collection of companies offers something for everyone who loves the power and precision of percussive dance. Stam-Pede will be presented Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 3pm at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, NYC. Alan Gilbert to Conduct Second Season of CONTACT!, 11/19

New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert will launch the second season of CONTACT!, the Orchestra's new-music series, leading Philharmonic musicians in concerts on Friday, November 19, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. at Peter Norton Symphony Space, and Saturday, November 20, at 7:00 p.m., at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The centerpiece of the program will be the World Premiere of Souvenir (in memoriam Gérard Grisey), a New York Philharmonic Commission by Magnus Lindberg, The Marie Josée Kravis Composer-in-Residence, written as a tribute to his late teacher, followed by Grisey's own Quatre chants pour franchir le seuil, performed by soprano Barbara Hannigan, who made her critically acclaimed New York Philharmonic debut last season as Gepopo in Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre. The CONTACT! concerts, which are curated by Mr. Lindberg, began in the 2009-10 season as a showcase for emerging and established contemporary composers.

Reissa Celebrates Hanukkah at Museum of Jewish Hertitage, 12/12

On Sunday, December 12 at 2:30 p.m., join Tony nominee and international concert artist Eleanor Reissa and friends for a delightful afternoon of Yiddish and English music and humor. Reissa, one of the world's most important interpreters of Yiddish song, will perform in her only New York City appearance this year at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. Her band of musical luminaries is led by Frank London of the Klezmatics and features Marty Confurius on the upright bass; Rex Benincasa on percussion and drums; slide trombone player Brian Drye; and pianist and accordion player Patrick Farrell.
