The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) presents SMALL TOWN, BIG TALENT, an all-day, star-filled celebration to benefit SOPAC, to honor the South Orange/Maplewood community and its contribution to the arts. From 11:00AM - 11:00PM on Saturday, June 19th, over 1,000 local residents of all ages are anticipated to experience performances, workshops, panel discussions. Tony Award-Winner Dick Latessa, and Chairman of the Board, brought together Broadway stars to help raise funds for Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY) which uses theatre to help New York's most vulnerable children and adults. This year's annual gala, Broadway at the Boathouse...Encore, was held at the Loeb Central Park Boathouse yesterday evening, May 17, 2010. The honoree was Dr. Sandra Bloom, creator of the Sanctuary Model® of trauma informed care and the Co-Director of the Center for Non-Violence & Social Justice at Drexel University.

Debuting as a co-production with Pasadena Playhouse, the show will star Emmy® nominee Paula Kelly, Suzzanne Douglas, Dawnn Lewis, Ann Weldon, Sharon Catherine Blanks, Angela Wildflower Polk and Clinton Derricks-Carroll, with direction by Ebony Repertory Theatre Artistic Director Israel Hicks.
