A starry cast has been assembled for the Philadelphia Theatre Company's premiere production of the new Terrence McNally play Some Men, which will run from May 12th through June 11th, with an opening night set for May 17th.

Compassion!), Don Amendolia (My One and Only), Brandon Bales, Duane Boutte, and Gregory Wooddell will be the males of the title, while the play's feminine side will be supplied by Tony Award-nominee Barbara Walsh (Hairspray, Falsettos) and and Suzzanne Douglas (3 Penny Opera, Into the Woods).  In addition, assistant music director Tom Judson will contribute to the play's sprinkling of songs by playing The Piano Man.

"Funny and touching, Some Men looks at the evolution of gay relationships and same-sex marriage in America.  From the Harlem Renaissance to the Stonewall riots and beyond, Some Men celebrates where we've been and where we're going," state press notes for theplay, which will be helmed by Philip Himberg.

McNally has garnered Tony Awards for his plays Love! Valour! Compassion! and Master Class; he was nominated for the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for A Perfect Ganesh.  As a librettist of musicals, he received Tony Awards for his books to Kiss of the Spiderwoman and Ragtime, and was also nominated for The Full Monty.  His other plays include Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, The Ritz, The Lisbon Traviata, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Corpus Christi and Bad Habits.  McNally, who wrote the book for the Chita Rivera-Liza Minnelli musical The Rink, recently reteamed with the first of those two legends for The Dancer's Life.  He is currently penning the book for the upcoming Marc Shaiman-Scott Wittman musical Catch Me If You Can.
