At my last District Competition, I had the pleasure of performing a Small Group Musical entitled 9 Peoples Favorite Thing from the musical, Title of Show. When choosing pieces to take to competition, this song spoke to me because it relies on one simple message: to have confidence in yourself even when others don't believe in you.
Keala Settle, star of Broadway's "Hands on a Hardbody" and "Waitress" and the film "The Greatest Showman" - and standout performer of the Oscar nominated song "This Is Me" on the recent 2018 Academy Awards telecast - takes the lead role in the new short film "Every Other Weekend" which will have its international premiere in mid-2018. The Josh Victor Rothstein directed film also stars on-the-rise child actors Angelina Palma and Julian Lerner, and is produced by Schuyler Weiss and Carlos Zozaya. The original producers of Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber & Stoller, Broadway's longest running musical revue, announced today that the show will return to New York this summer following a limited engagement at Maine's Ogunquit Playhouse. Preview performances will begin at New York's Stage 42 (422 West 42nd Street) on July 6 and opening night is set for July 22. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, March 12 through telecharge.com and the box office will open on June 25. Casting is to be announced.
The Actors Fund announced today a one night benefit concert of last year's planned off-Broadway revival of When Pigs Fly, that never actually got to play for an audience. The concert, which will reunite the cast members and creative team for one night only, is set for Monday, April 9th.
