University of Chicago's LET'S GET WORKING: CHICAGO CELEBRATES STUDS TERKEL Festival Kicks Off Today

Today, May 9 through May 11, 2014, the University of Chicago and the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts will host Let's Get Working, a three-day festival honoring the life and work of Studs Terkel, Chicago legend and UChicago alumnus. The festival will introduce Terkel's legacy to new and younger audiences while highlighting individuals and groups, both local and national, who have been impacted, influenced, and inspired by his work as a broadcaster, historian, actor, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author.

University of Chicago's Studs Terkel Festival to Run 5/9-11

A full schedule is now available for Let's Get Working, a new three-day festival honoring the life and work of Chicago legend Studs Terkel at the University of Chicago's Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th Street, Chicago. Let's Get Working explores Terkel's legacy while showcasing individuals and groups from Chicago and beyond who have been influenced and inspired by Terkel's work as a broadcaster, historian, actor, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author. All events are free and open to the public.

Spider Saloff Performs BERLIN IN SWINGTIME at Logan Center Performance Penthouse Tonight

Tonight, April 5, 2014 at 8pm, celebrated chanteuse Spider Saloff will present Berlin In Swingtime, a rare performance that explores the life and songs of Irving Berling, with Chicago's Jeremy Kahn at the piano. The performance is presented in partnership with KMP Artists and UChicago Arts at Logan Center's Performance Penthouse.

A new exhibition, Twice Militant: Lorraine Hansberry's Letters to 'The Ladder,' examines a lesser-known aspect of the life of the award-winning author of the landmark play A Raisin in the Sun, who died in 1965 at the age of thirty-four. The exhibition features documents and publications addressing Hansberry's identification as a feminist and a lesbian, and will be on view in the Herstory Gallery of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art from today, November 22, 2013, through March 16, 2014.

Northlight Theatre Brings STELLA & LOU to Galway Arts Festival, Now thru July 21

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces that the company's acclaimed World Premiere production of Stella & Lou by Bruce Graham and directed by BJ Jones, will be presented at the Town Hall Theater in association with Galway Arts Festival in Galway, Ireland, today, July 16-21, 2013. Penny Slusher as Stella will join original cast members Francis Guinan and Ed Flynn for the production.
