The New School Glass Box Theater Welcomes Pianist Andy Milne

The New School Glass Box Theater welcomes pianist Andy Milne to our stage. Milne is a master arranger and bandleader, well known for his acclaimed group Dapp Theory and his work with saxophonist Steve Coleman, and with actor William Shatner. In this intimate concert, Milne will perform an entirely improvised solo set.

Marika Hughes and The New String Quartet Will Play the Uncharted Concert

Marika Hughes has returned to her chamber music roots with a new project, The New String Quartet. Alongside Charlie Burnham (violin/voice) Marvin Sewell (guitar) and Rashaan Carter (bass), the band sets out to celebrate the sounds, the vibrations and the resonances of their acoustic, unamplified strings. Rooted in the traditions of the western classical string quartet, NSQ weaves itself thru Marika's musical heritage; from songs to tunes to impromptu sketches. With a new collection of music Marika and The New String Quartet tip their hats to love, to loss, family and to gratitude.

LEGENDS: Diana Ross, Billie Holiday, Beyonce' and More Stars MOTOWN: The Musical and Helen Hayes nominee N'Kenge with the Jacksonville Symphony under the baton of Maestro Nathan Aspinall. The show celebrates musical greats from Opera Legends Leontyne Price, Martina Arroyo to jazz and Pop stars such as Tina Turner, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne and Beyonce. Broadway's Kenny Seymour (Memphis, Amazing Grace) is currently Music Director on the piano, and song selections include audience favorites such as "Proud Mary", "Love On Top", "Stormy Weather" and Porgy and Bess's "My Man's Gone Now".

BWW Feature: T-FOX'S HOUSE PARTY at Oasis Ballroom

Las Vegas is known as a party town but the fun is not just on the Las Vegas Strip. 'T-Fox's House Party' starring T-Fox brings back good times in the Oasis Ballroom at Oasis Las Vegas Resort on March 30. The stage becomes a living room with tables, couches, chairs, a piano and fireplace while T-Fox invites the audience to his house party. With his flair, T-Fox performs R&B, jazz, neo-soul, funk, country, top 40 and blues. Along with some Broadway show tunes, he adds the great swing and standards of the '40s, '50s and '60s, hits from the Motown era, dance tunes and love songs from the 1970s to 1990s. Current hits are thrown in since it is a party for all ages.

Last night, sixteen female Broadway stars were featured in Broadway Sings Rihanna, the latest concert in the Broadway Sings concert series. The tribute concerts take the music of well-known music icons and create new, unique arrangements and orchestrations by twisting the style to fit the strength of the performer. Previous fifteen concerts have included Adele, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, and Sara Bareilles. On June 18, the series will continue with Broadway Sings Kelly Clarkson.

Broadway's Kenny Seymour will join as Music Director and Guest Conductor to previously announced MOTOWN: The Musical and Helen Hayes nominee N'Kenge in the one-woman show Legends: Diana Ross, Billie Holiday, Beyonce' and More with the Jacksonville Symphony at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts on March 23rd and 24th at 8:00pm.

Robert Cuccioli and Samantha Hill Will Lead Drury Lane Theatre's SOUTH PACIFIC

Drury Lane Theatre announces casting for the first production of its 2018/2019 season, the Tony Award-winning musical South Pacific, with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Josh Logan, and adapted from Tales of the South Pacific by James Michener. This production is directed by Victor Malana Maog with choreography by Otis Sallid and musical direction by Roberta Duchak. South Pacific runs April 5 - June 17, 2018, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The press opening is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 at 8:00 p.m.

Indie/Soul Artist Deva Mahal Releases 'Run Deep'. 3/23

Genre defying R&B/Soul goddess Deva Mahal is set to release her much-anticipated debut album Run Deep on March 23 via Motéma Music, fresh off the success of her self-titled introductory EP. Motown the Musical will embark on a major UK and Ireland tour in 2018-2019 arriving at The Bristol Hippodrome for a 4-week a four week  run from Thursday 10 January - Saturday 2 February 2019. Further dates and casting to be announced soon.

BWW Interview: Rosalinde Block on Proving Naysayers Wrong, Being a Boomer with Something to Say, and Her One-Woman Show DRAMA OF THE GIFTED GROWNUP

As a woman, a musician, a writer/illustrator, and a single mother, Block faced her share of setbacks and naysayers. Now in her 60s, she's back once again to prove the naysayers wrong and show that Baby Boomers still have plenty to say with her new solo show, DRAMA OF THE GIFTED GROWNUP: A MUSICAL JOURNEY. The show, which combines Block's music, writing, and visual art, starts a three-city tour in Portland on Thursday.

MOTOWN Comes To Musical Monday/Tuesday

The MTH Theater at Crown Center has announced casting for its next Musical Monday and Tuesday, scheduled April 16 and 17 at Crown Center. The performance will feature the music of motion, from Broadway and beyond. Tunes from Broadway musicals like THE WIZ, DREAMGIRLS, and MOTOWN THE MUSICAL will be accompanied by songs made famous by Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross and others. The ensemble features Asa Barnes, Lexi Brie, Shon Ruffin, Anthony Saunders, Emily Shackelford, and Shelby Winfrey. The show will be hosted by Ron Lackey, founder of Kansas City's popular Motown/Funk band 2Proud 2Beg.
