The supernatural power of love is taking Orange County by storm as the new Broadway and West End musical GHOST - THE MUSICAL, adapted from the Academy Award-winning film, opens at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, today, July 29 - August 10.

Ghost The Musical directed by Tony Award-winner Matthew Warchus and choreographed by Ashley Wallen, is celebrating its Hollywood Pantages Theatre premiere now through July 13, 2014. And, BWW TV's own LA Producer/Correspondent Michael Sterling and Co-Producer/Videographer Jordan Santacana were on hand opening night June 28 for an exclusive, pre-curtain interview with Ghost's U.S. National Tour stars Steven Grant Douglas ("Sam Wheat") and Katie Postotnik ("Molly Jenson"). GHOST - THE MUSICAL features Steven Grant Douglas as Sam Wheat, Katie Postotnik as Molly Jensen, Carla R. Stewart as Oda Mae Brown and Robby Haltiwanger as Carl Bruner. Featured ensemble are Fernando Contreras, Brandon Curry, Evette Marie White, Lydia Warr, Hana Freeman and Shannan E. Johnson. Rounding out the ensemble are Susan Leilani Gearou, Tony Johnson, Beth Stafford Laird, Andrea Laxton, Ben Laxton, Jake Vander Linden, Michael McClure, David Melendez, Jack O'Brien and Maria Cristina Slye.

When GHOST: THE MUSICAL opened on Broadway it was met by a bevy of critical slams and was plagued by technical issues that would stall the production. Now, the troubled movie turned musical turned theme-park ride is limping, zombie-like, across the nation in a Non-Equity National Tour. Luckily, the production is employing a handful of theatre professionals. In many ways, that is this overblown clunker of a show's only saving grace.

If you were going to see GHOST THE MUSICAL and looking for references to the original movie with Patrick Swayze (Sam) and Demi Moore (Molly), you would have seen a lot of them. Yes, the popular song, 'Unchained Melody' was included. Yes, Molly does sculpting and Sam works on Wall Street. The live production actually follows the movie closely since Bruce Rubin wrote both the screenplay and play script. But, if you were going solely to relive your memories of the original, then you would have been disappointed. GHOST THE MUSICAL is a wonderful production by itself and is worthy of its own iconic references.

Shows like 'Ghost: The Musical' are the reason I have nightmares about punctuality (specifically colons when they precede'The Musical'). There are perhaps no two words that strike fear in the heart of theater critics quite like 'The Musical.'
