Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal, the most critically acclaimed, award-winning supper club of its kind in the greater Los Angeles area, has set Sunday, December 15, 2013 as auditions for the 8th consecutive year of LA's Next Great Stage Star®, it was announced today by Executive Producer Michael Sterling of Michael Sterling & Associates in Los Angeles, CA. "Our annual auditions in search of 10 men and 10 women between within the ages of 18 and 28, is highly anticipated by the hierarchy of those in the business of presenting Los Angeles Broadway musical theatre. We couldn't be more grateful to our professional colleagues and select corporate entities for their consistent support of Stage Star since its inception eight years ago."
The 24th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards, celebrating theatrical excellence and achievement during the 2013 season, were presented on Sunday, November 3 at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse Thirty-five awards were bestowed upon 13 different Southern California theatre companies. Leading the pack with 12 was Center Theatre Group (seven for The Nether at the Kirk Douglas Theatre; three for Joe Turner's Come and Gone at the Mark Taper Forum; one for The Scottsboro Boys at the Ahmanson Theatre; and one for The Royale at the Kirk Douglas Theatre). CTG was followed by 3-D Theatricals with five awards (four for Parade and one for Shrek the Musical). The Chance Theater and La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts took home three awards each (including Best Season for La Mirada); Circle X Theatre Company, the Fountain Theatre, and the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble tied with two each. Producing Artistic Director Steven Glaudini today announces Moonlight Stage Productions' 24th Winter Season at the AVO Playhouse. For the first time, the three-show season will include two musicals along with a classic comedy. "Moonlight and musicals are practically synonymous," Glaudini said. "Our AVO musicals have historically been hugely popular with audiences, so I want to deliver what our patrons look to Moonlight for and that is professionally produced musical theatre. The addition of a second musical will fulfill that promise. But we include a non-musical show to keep the season interesting and to be able to offer something for everyone."

Like The King and I, Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific is a heartbreaking story told across racial borders and has an elegant score. The look in its rich set design - from the original 2008 Broadway/Lincoln Center revival with an incredible, dreamlike Bali Ha'i in the background, setting the romantic tone for the entire show, adds so much to the current production at Moonlight Amphitheatre.
