Broadway in South Africa will be the featured entertainment for tonight's opening dinner for the US Fund for UNICEF's 2009 Annual Meeting entitled 'Believe in Zero.' CNN's Anderson Cooper, of Anderson Cooper 360, is the guest speaker. The event takes place tonight, Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 6:30 p.m at the Altman Building, 135 West 18th Street.
On January 4th 2009, after over 2,641 performances, the curtain fell at the Neil Simon Theater on the final performance of Broadway's 2003 Tony Award? musical HAIRSPRAY starring original cast members Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur. The rock musical EMERALD MAN, a modern-day Don Quixote complete with comic books and superheroes, has been chosen for the 2007 ASCAP Foundation/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop in Los Angeles. It is one of 4 musicals selected out of 170 submissions.
The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is very pleased to continue it's CINEMA DUPLEX series with a very special screening of the acclaimed 2003 film, Camp. The evening will also feature a live, musical performance from the film's cast, as well as an interview with Todd Graff, Camp's writer/director. Seth Rudetsky, host of the popular Broadway Chatterbox, will host the evening.
