Mondavi Center Announces 2015-16 Season

?The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis announces its 14th season of performing arts, filled with the leading artists in music, dance and theater, speakers and a collection of films screened with live musical accompaniment.

Creative Music Studio to Hold Spring 2015 Workshop

Composer/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist and educator Amir al Saffar, composer/trumpeter/bandleader and CMS veteran Steven Bernstein, and percussion master Warren Smith join Creative Music Studio Artistic Directors/Co-founders Karl Berger and Ingrid Sertso as Guiding Artists for the CMS Spring 2015 Workshop intensive, June 8 – 12, at the ear-inspiring Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY.

The third edition of Art Southampton, the leading international contemporary and modern art fair for acquiring investment quality works of art opened last night with huge success, where top collectors, curators, art advisors and influencers kicked off the weekend-long event. Taking place on the 18-acre estate behind the Southampton Elks Lodge, the Platinum VIP saw over 1,500 top collectors of the East End, and throughout the elegant evening, attendance exceeded last year's VIP Preview of 4,200 guests. Roulette Presents SIM BIG BAND Tonight, 6/5

Roulette presents the School for Improvised Music (SIM) big band, tonight, June 5, 8pm. The SIM big band is comprised of many of SIM's esteemed faculty who will also compose music especially for this project. SIM (part of the Center for Improvised Music)i s a core group of professional musician/teachers committed to creating a school in New York City for emerging performers who want to pursue a serious study of improvised music. Since 2001, SIM has presented over 20 intensive workshop sessions for students from all over the globe. This big band project is one of several endeavors the Center for Improvised Music (CIM) is undertaking to celebrate the milestone of its 10 year anniversary. Another of these projects is an interview series in which SIM faculty will interview veteran jazz musicians in front of a live audience. CIM will also be hosting listening sessions in which musicians present music for the public as a way of educating the jazz audience at large.
