SAN FRANCISCO- (June 2, 2015) Jo Schuman Silver, producer of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, announcedtoday the three Bay Area high school winners of the The Steve Silver Foundation & Beach Blanket Babylon "Scholarship for the Arts." 

The Broadway at Birdland Concert Series is proud to announce that Stephen Cole and David Evans musical fable, Merman's Apprentice, will appear at the historic Birdland stage One Night Only, Monday, June 15 at 7pm. Directed by Igor Goldin (Yank) the cast features (in alphabetical order) P.J. Benjamin, Klea Blackhurst, Anita Gillette, Richard Kind, and Elizabeth Teeter supported by a six-piece band with orchestrations by Lynn Shankel.

Jo Schuman Silver, producer of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, announced today the nine Bay Area seniors selected as finalists for the Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon 'Scholarship for the Arts.' Each of the finalists will perform live in front of friends, family and a panel of celebrity judges on Monday, June 1. One winner in each category will be presented with a check for $10,000 towards their college education. The nine high school seniors who will perform are:

This 'only in San Francisco' event will feature Mayor Ed Lee, Chief of Protocol Charlotte Shultz, former Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr., Ann Getty, Dede Wilsey, San Francisco Symphony Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. Other dignitaries will be announced at a later date.

Today, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon Producer Jo Schuman Silver announced Hats Off to 40 Years of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, a self-guided tour featuring iconic hats from the past 40 years running in May through June. With more than 20 hats being exhibited throughout the Bay Area, this is the first time in the show's history that this many hats have been displayed at one time. At 15 feet wide, 10 feet deep and 29 feet tall, visitors to Davies Symphony Hall can see the iconic Silver San Francisco Skyline Hat. Other hats include the World Hat and the Washington Hat at the de Young Museum, as well as the original Banana Carmen Hat at the SFJAZZ Center.
