Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents William Shakespeare's epic Henry V, directed by celebrated British director Christopher Luscombe in his Chicago debut. In a rousing finale to the 2014 season, the play that inaugurated Chicago Shakespeare Theater in 1986 on the rooftop of Lincoln Park's Red Lion Pub comes to the Courtyard Theater for the first time. Shakespeare's powerful history play explores the consequences of war and the capacity of language to inspire and transform. Leading the troops as the charismatic, young monarch is Harry Judge in the titular role. Henry V will be performed in CST's Courtyard Theater April 29 through June 15, 2014. Non-Equity Jeff Awards are Announced

The Jeff Awards Committee today announced 128 nominations in 24 categories of Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2013, and March 31, 2014. The Non-Equity Awards honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract. Jeff judges attended opening nights of 147 productions offered by 65 Non-Equity producing organizations. The judges recommended 66 of those shows, making them eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations. Thirty theatre companies received nominations.

Photo Flash: First Look at Lifeline Theatre's THE KILLER ANGELS

Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, Lifeline Theatre presents Karen Tarjan's adaptation of Michael Shaara's Pulitzer Prize-winning Civil War novel, The Killer Angels (originally commissioned by Lifeline in 2004). The production will be directed by Matt Miller, who joins Lifeline Theatre as a director for the first time. ?A cast of ten actors brings over twenty historical characters to life, led by returning artist Don Benderas General Robert E. Lee, along with Lifeline Theatre ensemble member Chris Hainsworth. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Lifeline Theatre Kicks Off 2013-14 Season with THE KILLER ANGELS, Begin. 9/6

The Killer Angels runs September 6 - October 27 at Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood Ave. (free parking and shuttle; see below). Opening night is Monday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m. (Previews are Fridays, September 6 and 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, September 7 and 14 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, September 8 at 4 p.m.)

BWW Reviews: BoHo’s FLOYD COLLINS - An Impressive Blend of Stagecraft and Musicianship

Chicago's non-Equity Bohemian Theatre Ensemble has undertaken Adam Guettel and Tina Landau's 1996 off-Broadway masterpiece (or close to it) and put it on at Theater Wit on West Belmont Avenue for the next month (through July 25, 2012). If you have imagination enough to meet the company halfway, somewhere between the hardscrabble Kentucky soil and the cave beneath it where the real Floyd Collins met his doom in 1925, you will come away with a musical and theatrical experience you are unlikely to repeat anytime soon, anywhere else.

Signal Ensemble Theatre Opens HOSTAGE SONG Tonight, 5/5

Signal Ensemble Theatre has announced the final production in their 2011-2012 season, the Chicago premiere of Hostage Song, tonight, May 5 through June 9, at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 West Berenice Ave. Clay McLeod Chapman writes the production with music and lyrics by Kyle Jarrow, directed by Signal's Co-Artistic Director Ronan Marra with music direction by Signal Ensemble Member Jon Steinhagen. The performance schedule for Hostage Song is Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Opening/press night is tonight, May 5 at 8 p.m. The production runs 90 minutes with no intermission and please note there will be no show on Sunday, May 6. Regular ticket prices are $20 for single tickets, $15 for industry/students/seniors/groups and $10 for previews.
