Lyricist/librettist, Michael Colby, author of the memoir, 'The Algonquin Kid-Adventures Growing Up at New York's Legendary Hotel," celebrated his 65th Birthday on Sunday, Oct. 30th with a fundraiser/musical event for Child Find of America. 'Quel Fromage II' featured performers from Broadway and cabaret, including members of TADA! An informal read-through of the first act of a new musical, Tangled Webs, took place on Friday December 12th, in Manhattan. The reading starred Mary Poppins star Rebecca Luker. The musical is about an elegant Park Avenue woman (played in the read-through by Rebecca Luker) who's lost her husband and starts her life over by going to work at a producer's office. She discovers a young writer's work that she feels passionate about, and she will stop at nothing to get the show to the Broadway stage.
The Douglas J. Cohen musical THE GIG, was commercially released on CD on August 12 through Jay Records. On August 18 at 6:00pm, there was a CD launch at Barnes & Noble on West 66th Street. The cast was there to perform and sign CDs following a panel discussion with Frank Gilroy, Sheldon Harnick, Douglas J. Cohen and moderated by Peter Filichia.
