This day of diverse, enchanting dance is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

City Parks Foundation is thrilled to announce the 2019 season of Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage, New York City's largest free outdoor performing arts festival, bringing nearly 100 free and benefit shows to Central Park and 17 neighborhood parks throughout the five boroughs. This year's festival will showcase 200 renowned artists and rising stars from around the world to local neighborhood parks, presenting distinctly New York genres -- salsa, jazz, and hip-hop -- alongside indie, reggae, Afrobeat, soul, contemporary dance, and much more. 10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, will hold its first Live Streaming Event on Friday, May 17 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm to launch The 10HL Choreographic Initiative to raise $100,000 during the coming year. The Initiative will fund our overarching commitment to commissioning 10 works in the next 5 years. The Initiative serves to further demonstrate the company's commitment to the importance of bold and new choreographic voices in the field that challenge and inspire.

David Parker, curator, and Jeffrey Kazin, producer, announce the May 16-19 performances of Soaking WET, featuring all female casts of creators and performers, led by choreographers Ellis Wood and Kate Digby, and writer Erika Batdorf.  Lighting is by resident Soaking WET designer Jay Ryan.

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, holds its 7th consecutive New York Season with a return to New York Live Arts June 27-29. Presented are World Premieres by Larry Keigwin and Adam Barruch. Barruch's work will have a newly composed score by Roarke Menzies. Larry Keigwin is a native New Yorker and choreographer who has danced his way from the Metropolitan Opera to Broadway and back. He founded KEIGWIN + COMPANY in 2003 and as artistic director, he has led the company as it has performed at The Kennedy Center, The Joyce Theater, The Guggenheim, and New York City Center, among many other venues. Adam Barruch currently creates and performs work under the epithet of his own company, Anatomiae Occultii. In addition, he has also created works for companies such as The Limón Company, Ailey II, Keigwin + Company, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, River North Dance Chicago, BalletX, Whim W'Him Seattle Contemporary Dance, Graham II, GroundWorks Dance Theater, Gina Gibney Dance Company and Minnesota Dance Theatre, as well as for dance icons Margie Gillis and Miki Orihara.

New York Live Arts (Live Arts) to present the New York premiere of Netta Yerushalmy's Paramodernities, March 14-17, 2019, having commissioned the work as part of the Live Feed Residency Program. The complete six-part encyclopedic series is a multidisciplinary work that weaves theory and performance into a four-hour-long hybrid event. Yerushalmy and a cast of 20 dancers and scholars, ranging in age from 20 to 68, perform deconstructed installments of Nijinsky's “Sacre” (1913), Graham's “Night Journey” (1947), Ailey's “Revelations” (1960), a mix of Cunningham works “Rainforest,” “Sounddance”, “Points in Space”, “Beach Birds”,  and “Ocean” (1968-1990), dance numbers from the 1969 Fosse's film “Sweet Charity”, and a response to Balanchine's “Agon” (1957) that includes none of the original choreography.

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, received 100+ responses to its call to choreographers to create new works for the company. Submissions included candidates from across the United States, Europe, Puerto Rico and India. 44% of the submissions were from women. Candidates were asked to submit a vision for the work in 10 words or less and a video that best represents their aesthetic.

Spring activities for the Centennial, which continues through all of 2019, include a wide range of performances, film screenings, discussions, education initiatives, community programming, and new works by other artists in conversation with Merce Cunningham's work.

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company will teach 4 Int/Adv Contemporary Classes at STEPS on Broadway Wednesdays and Fridays January 9 - 18 from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. Artistic Director Randy James and members of the Artistic Staff will oversee and observe all the classes. Class begins with dynamic floor sequences that warm up the body's core, using the floor as a tool to explore connectivity throughout the entire body. The floor sequences build on one another, bringing the mover to standing phrases across the floor. Once on two feet the class establishes the body's connection with dynamic shifts in and out of the ground, culminating in a final phrase that builds upon the body's exploration of different initiations with supple and expressive virtuosity. Phrase work from our extensive repertory of commissioned and curated work will be explored.

The fourth annual 'American Dance Platform' is now on stage at The Joyce from January 3-7 2019. The performances feature six of our nation's captivating companies in three inspired, shared programs.

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, will accept and consider submissions to create new works for the company. The initiative is open to anyone seeking to work with the company. Submissions must include a maximum of 10 words to describe the choreographer's vision for the work and a link to one sample representing that artist's dance esthetic.

The Joyce Theater Foundation(Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is pleased to kick off the new year with the fourth annual American Dance Platform, a showcase of six U.S.-based companies at The Joyce Theater, made possible by a grant from The Harkness Foundation for Danceand dedicated to the memory of Theodore S. Bartwink, from January 3-7.

La MaMa is proud to present the Remote Theater Project production of Grey Rock, written and directed by Palestinian artist Amir Nizar Zuabi. This world premiere, which runs January 3-7, 2019, was commissioned by Remote Theater Project and marks the first time a U.S. theater company has commissioned a Palestinian artist to create an original work for American audiences. Grey Rock tells the story of a young Palestinian so enamored with the 1969 American moon landing that he muses, "shouldn't Palestine, the land of prophets, also have a presence on the moon?" Without money or technology, but with the help of his bemused West Bank neighbors, he sets out to build a space shuttle. Knowing full well that he can't succeed with this impossible, but necessary, task, the young man is visited by American heroes who guide him on his mission. Humorous and fantastical, Grey Rock explores the influence that America has had over Palestinian culture.

The power and joy of dance and the human collective will be in the spotlight as City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) presents the collaborative dance company MG DanceArts in Amass today, October 26, at 7:30 p.m. Directed by dancer, choreographer and educator Marielis Garcia, Amass presents audiences with an interactive multidisciplinary performance featuring dance, music, sculpture and a good dose of audience participation. Born out of political strife, the piece is designed to help people with vastly different experiences reconnect as human beings through dance. As spectators become the performers, notions of the individual, the group, the past and the future will be tested and explored.
