Cygnet Theatre to Present SONS OF THE PROPHET, 1/15-2/15

- Cygnet Theatre will continue its run of presenting Southern California premieres with Sons of the Prophet, the latest work by Stephen Karam (Speech and Debate). Premiering at New York's Roundabout Theatre in 2011, Karam was hailed as 'a major new voice in American Theater.' His brutally funny and explosive comedy was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize and has received multiple other awards including the 2012 Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Hull-Warriner Awards for Best Play. The production runs January 15 - February 15 at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town. Opening Night for Media is Saturday, January 24, 8 pm.

Laura Osnes & Santino Fontana Set for A BROADWAY ROMANCE Valentine's Day Concert with New York Philharmonic

Ted Sperling will conduct the New York Philharmonic and vocalists Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana in A Broadway Romance, a one-night-only Valentine's Day concert, Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. The program will feature songs from popular musicals ranging from Bernstein's West Side Story and Gershwin's Girl Crazy to Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel and Stephen Sondheim's Company, woven together to tell a unified narrative of a romance from beginning to end, from meeting to first date to falling in love to marriage.

American Theater Company Extends THE HUMANS into January

To accommodate the huge demand for tickets, American Theater Company (ATC), 1909 W. Byron Street, has added performances and extended the run of the critically-acclaimed new play, The Humans, written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and ATC signature playwright Stephen Karam and directed by ATC Artistic Director PJ Paparelli.

Qui Nguyen to Write New Play for Waterwell; Premieres This Spring

Waterwell, one of the Village Voice's Best Arguments for Devised Theater and creators of GOODBAR and #9, continues its annual series of developmental workshop productions by commissioning a new play from Qui Nguyen (The Inexplicable Redemption of Agent G, She Kills Monsters) for its senior Drama Class of 2015 at the Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS). To be directed by longtime collaborator, Robert Ross Parker (Goodbye Cruel World, co-artistic director of Vampire Cowboys), the piece will premiere at PPAS in April 2015.

Blank Theatre to Premiere SONS OF THE PROPHET in 2015

The Blank Theatre has announced that rehearsals begin on December 1 for the Los Angeles premiere of Sons of the Prophet by Stephen Karam, directed by Ovation Award-winner Michael Matthews. Performances begin January 31, 2015 with opening set for February 7.

Casting Announced for Roundabout Underground's LITTLE CHILDREN DREAM OF GOD

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) is pleased to announce the cast for the Roundabout Underground world-premiere production of Little Children Dream of God, a new play by Jeff Augustin, directed by Giovanna Sardelli, will feature Gilbert Cruz (Manuel), Dashiell Eaves (Trevor), Carl Hendrick Louis (Toussaint and Man), Maurice Jones (Joel), Chris Myers (Vishal), Deirdre O'Connell (Carolyn), Carra Patterson (Sula) and Crystal Lucas-Perry (Madison).

Jim Parsons to Star in Roundabout's MERTON OF THE MOVIES Benefit Reading This Winter; Scott Ellis Directs

Roundabout Theatre Company is thrilled to welcome back four-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory," Roundabout's Harvey) in a hilarious one-night-only reading of George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly's Merton of the Movies. This rollicking evening will be helmed by Roundabout's Adams Associate Artistic Director, six-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis (Roundabout's Harvey, The Mystery of Edwin Drood), currently represented on Broadway with You Can't Take It With You.

American Theater Company (ATC), 1909 W. Byron Street, continues its 30th Anniversary season with the World Premiere of The Humans, written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and ATC signature playwright Stephen Karam and directed by ATC Artistic Director PJ Paparelli,November 14 - December 21; with an official opening night of Monday, November 17. The Humans is produced here under special arrangement with New York's Roundabout Theatre Company where it will premiere in New York next season.

Azuka Theatre's 2014-15 to Include 'WATSON INTELLIGENCE,' MOON CAVE & More

Azuka Theatre kicks off its 15th season with the Philadelphia Premiere of a 2014 Pulitzer Prize Finalist, continues with a World Premiere by the theatre's current playwright in residence, and closes with another Philadelphia Premiere. Azuka performs on its home stage at the Off-Broad Street Theater at First Baptist Church 1636 Sansom Street. Subscriptions are $45-$75. There is a $35 subscription available for patrons 35 and under. The United States premiere of the internationally acclaimed new work written and directed by Peter Brook and Marie-Helene Estienne, The Valley of Astonishment, featuring Kathryn Hunter (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Kafka's Monkey), Marcello Magni (Fragments), and Jared McNeill (The Suit), begins previews Sunday, September 14, at 7:30pm for an opening Thursday, September 18,at 7:30pm and a run through Sunday, October 5, at Theatre for a New Audience, Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place.
