The cast for a 'joyous comedy of transformation' which opens at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre next month has been announced.

Two-time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals has brought together an extraordinary group of artists to helm the five exciting productions planned this season: an All-American classic, a heart-warming musical tale, an electric dance-filled tuner, an extraordinary true story, and an inspirational journey that's sure to inspire. Single tickets for all five shows set for Goodspeed's 2019 season go on public sale this Sunday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m..

In the village of Crythin Gifford, the wind howls across the moors and fog creeps mysteriously around the town spires. At the edge of the village's cemetery, young lawyer Arthur Kipps glimpses the figure of a woman, garbed all in black, and is drawn into Crythin's cursed and haunted history. Susan Hill's gothic ghost story, The Woman In Black, comes to spine- tingling life in this cunning stage adaptation by Stephen Mallatratt that has left London's West End theatre-goers enthralled for more than 30 years. Director Robin Herford recreates Mallatratt's original staging from the London West End for this American premiere of the West End Production, touring the U.S. for the first time. 

A one-woman show about a young mum from Scarborough, produced last year by the Stephen Joseph Theatre, heads to Australia later this month in a co-production with Tara Finney Productions, after winning a prestigious award at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe.

Boundless Theatre and Script Club today announce that Josh Tucker will play the role of Liam in Tom Wells and Matthew Robins' Drip, as it embarks on a new 2019 tour following its recent run at Bush Theatre. Producer Stephen Gabriel/Work Light Productions released today a music video in anticipation of the 50th Anniversary North American tour of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical Jesus Christ Superstar.  The Olivier Award-winning production first premiered in 2016 at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in London.  The North American tour launches in Austin, TX in the fall of 2019 and celebrates fifty epic years since the original rock opera concept album release that began this musical theatre phenomenon.

Jasmyn Banks and Tom England will join the previously announced Caroline Langrishe, Aden Gillett, James Sutton and Elizabeth Boag in the 2019 national tour of Torben Betts's biting comedy, CAROLINE'S KITCHEN, beginning on 24 January 2019 at Derby Theatre, running through to 13 April 2019 at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester. This will be followed by an off-Broadway season in New York Spring 2019. There will be a national press night at Cambridge Arts Theatre on Tuesday 29 January 2019.

A brand new adaptation of Alice in Wonderland with a local setting and a big sprinkle of Christmas will burst onto the stage at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre this December.

Kwaku Mills (End of Eddy, UK Tour; Urban Myths: The Trial of Joan Collins, Sky Atlantic) has been cast in this exciting revival of Arinze Kene's good dog - he will bring to life this true epic, retelling the stories of multiple characters, families and years. Directed by tiata fahodzi's Artistic Director Natalie Ibu, good dog will open at Watford Palace Theatre before touring to venues including Sheffield Theatres, Northern Stage, Stephen Joseph Theatre, Birmingham REP, North Wall Arts Centre and Salisbury Playhouse.

Ahead of its tour across the UK, Denmark and the USA, Rosie Kay Dance Company's critically acclaimed 5 SOLDIERS: The Body is the Frontline will be broadcast on Forces TV on 23 December at 8pm. This will be the first time the show has been made available to viewers on TV and will be available on Freeview + You View, Freesat, Sky and Virgin in the UK as well as part of BFBS TV for HM Forces serving worldwide.
