In 1989, I was a student at Bennington College, probably one of the most progressive and outwardly misunderstood student bodies in America. There were no 'Heathers' (popular girls) in the mix, but if there were, they enrolled against their parent's wishes.

*NY REGIONAL PREMIERE  HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers.

This fall, the White Plains Performing Arts Center is offering an opportunity to show our students that there is more to theatre than just Broadway. Regional theatres, like the WPPAC make up a huge part of the professional performing arts industry. This October, WPPAC is producing the NY Regional Premiere of HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL and we wanted to spread the word as we know the show has been a favorite amongst the teens in our programs for a few years. This is the first professional production in NY since it has closed off Broadway and it is right in your backyard!

The Marvelous Wonderettes has just returned to Off-Broadway after a gap of five years. A sunny jukebox musical whose score is composed of 1950's and '60's girl group classics, Yorktown Stage is happy to present this musical as our summer production, July 23-30, 2016. Among the iconic pop songs featured are 'Mr. Sandman', 'Lollipop', 'Son of a Preacher Man' and 'Hold me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me'.  We first meet Cindy Lou, Betty Jane, Missy and Suzy aka The Wonderettes at their 1958 Prom Night, performing a selection of girl group classics in front of their fellow classmates. The musical traces the next decade of the girl's lives up to their reformation in 1968, when they once again take to the stage for their high school reunion.  

TARZAN, THE STAGE MUSICAL will play the White Plains Performing Arts Center tomorrow, December 18, through January 10, and is directed by Jeremy Quinn with music direction by Stephen Ferri and choreography by Lexie Fennell Frare. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Complete casting has been announced for the Westchester Sandbox Theatre's mainstage production of CARRIE The Musical running October 2nd-11th, 2015 at the Mamaroneck venue. Based on the acclaimed novel by Stephen King, Carrie features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Footloose & Fame), and music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame).

This is the spectacular musical adaptation of Charles Dickens's most well known story. Proving its staying power with a decade long run at Madison Square Garden, A Christmas Carol is an ideal choice to create a holiday tradition.
