STAGE TUBE: On This Day 4/5- THE PIRATE QUEEN

Today in 2007, The Pirate Queen opened at the Hilton Theatre (now the FoxwoodsTheatre), where it ran for 85 performances. The Pirate Queen is a musical written by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, best known for their adaptation of Les Miserables. It is based on the life and adventures of the 16th century Irish chieftain and pirate Grainne O'Malley, who was one of the last Irish clan leaders to resist the English conquest of Gaelic Ireland. The cast featured Stephanie J. Block as the title character and Linda Balgord, who was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth I.

Scott Alan and Caissie Levy Bring THE SCOTT ALAN SONGBOOK to The Cabaret in Indy, 4/5-6

Renowned musical theatre composer/lyricist, Scott Alan and Broadway star, Caissie Levy, perform music from Scott's extensive original songbook and share the inspiration and stories behind them. Scott's thoughtful and moving original compositions have made him a favorite among many well-known artists including Sutton Foster, Jonathan Groff, Stephanie J. Block and Liz Callaway. The evening features songs from his four original albums.

BWW CD Review: THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD (2013 Cast Recording)

DG records produced the cast recording of the 2012 production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, a revival of the original 1985 production. The show is based on the unfinished Charles Dickens novel. The 2012 revival starred Stephanie Block (9 to 5, Wicked), Will Chase (Smash), Chita Rivera (West Side Story).

Sting's THE LAST SHIP Musical Gets Spring 2013 Reading

According to an Equity casting notice, Sting's new stage musical, THE LAST SHIP, which has been buzzed about for an upcoming Broadway run, will get a staged reading this spring. Joe Mantello will direct the project, which is set to take place April 29 through May 11.

ANYTHING GOES Tour Comes to Pittsburgh's Heinz Hall, 4/16-21

The national tour of Roundabout Theatre Company's ANYTHING GOES, the new Broadway revival of Cole Porter's timeless classic musical theatre masterpiece, will make its Pittsburgh premiere April 16-21, 2013 at Heinz Hall as part of the PNC Broadway Across America-Pittsburgh series.

DRG Records has released the new 2013 Broadway cast recording of Roundabout Theatre Company's critically acclaimed Broadway production of Rupert Holmes' Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Mystery of Edwin Drood, which closed on Broadway yesterday, March 10, at Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street). Cast members performed from the album at the Upper East Side Barnes & Noble (86th & Lexington Ave.) on March 8, joined by Will Chase, Jim Norton, Gregg Edelman and Chita Rivera for a CD signing following the performances. Roundabout Extends TALLEY'S FOLLY Through May 12

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) has just announced a one-week extension of Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winning play Talley's Folly, starring Danny Burstein as "Matt Friedman" and Sarah Paulson as "Sally Talley", directed by Michael Wilson. The limited engagement has been extended to May 12, 2013 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street).

The company of this year's BROADWAY BACKWARDS will now include five-time Tony Award nominee Jan Maxwell, four-time Tony nominee and five-time Emmy nominee Victor Garber, Tony nominees Malcolm Gets, Chad Kimball and Josh Young, five-time Emmy Award winner Doris Roberts and teenage spoken word sensation Noah St. John.
