La MaMa, in association with The Assembly, presents the world premiere of SEAGULLMACHINE, created by The Assembly, conceived by Nick Benacerraf, co-directed by Jess Chayes (Lucille Lortel Award winner) and Nick Benacerraf, and text by Anton Chekhov, Heiner Muller and The Assembly. SEAGULLMACHINE runs from April 14 - May 5, 2018 in a limited engagement at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre, located at 66 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and the Bowery in New York City. Previews begin April 14 for an April 16 opening.

CSUF'S IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST Opens Friday

"The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde, directed by Department of Theatre and Dance faculty member James R. Taulli opens this Friday, April 20th, and runs through May 6, 2018 in the Young Theatre on campus. Jack and Algernon each "reinvent the truth" to woo the women who have captured their hearts. When the gentlemen are coerced to reveal their web of lies and reveal themselves to their ladies, being 'earnest' takes new meaning.

The Art of Acting Studio Announces 4th Annual Shakespeare Benefit

The Art of Acting Studio will hold its 2018 fundraiser for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, dubbed the Shakespeare Benefit, on April 21st and 22nd, 2018 at 8pm.  A longstanding tradition in New York at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, this year's benefit will be its 4th year in Los Angeles!

New Play Readings Festival Announced at Stage West

Stage West is pleased to present the 11th Annual New Play Readings Festival on Sunday, April 22, at Stage West, 821 W. Vickery in Fort Worth.  Featured will be Dust, by Nicole Oglesby, the winner of the 11th Southwest Playwriting Competition; in addition, the Festival will feature readings of new works by Mat Smart (who wrote our 38th Season closer, The Royal Society of Antarctica) and Janielle Kastner, who just appeared as Karla in A Funny Thing Happened….

You Can't Go Wrong with Wrong House Productions' SKETCHY SKETCH NIGHT

What isn't there to love about sketch comedy? It is the true meeting of the dramatic and comedic, mixed in with individual creativity to create a very casual and ideal way to begin the weekend. And who doesn't want to have a good laugh over silly (yes, there were farts) yet clever skits that will easily lighten anyone's mood? The place to be on Friday night was the TADA! Theater, where Wrong House Productions presented Sketchy Sketch Night. A one night event that drew sold out crowds of people whose aim it was to have a great time, the party that was Sketchy Sketch Night began even before the audience walked through the door; the fun that ensued made this one enjoyable and rather unique theatrical experience.

The Barrow Group's A WALK IN THE WOODS Begins Saturday, March 17

The Barrow Group Theatre Company (Seth Barrish and Lee Brock, Co-Artistic Directors; Robert Serrell, Executive Director), recipient of aDrama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award, concludes their 2017-2018 season with the New York revival of A Walk in the Woods, a play by Lee Blessing. Directed by Donna Jean (DJ) Fogel, the two-member cast features K. Lorrel Manning as John Honeyman, an American negotiator and Martin Van Treuren as Andrey Botvinnik, a career Russian diplomat.

PUFFS Makes Its Australian Premiere Plus Added Performances in NYC

PUFFS or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic & Magic - the hit comedy currently running Off Broadway at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) - celebrates its first ever global expansion with the announcement of the play's Australian premiere in Melborne this May.  In addition to this landmark debut, plans for a U.S. tour and a national broadcast, the PUFFS New York production will expand to seven shows a week this month.
