Bay Area Premiere of Pulitzer Prize Winner Robert Schenkkan's "By the Waters of Babylon" at Phoenix Theatre Sept 30-Oct 15

Playwrights Horizons has announced new details for its upcoming 2016/2017 Season.

Crowning its year-long tribute to Shakespeare's 400th anniversary, Elements Theatre Company presents King Lear under the direction of Danielle Dwyer, CJ. In the striking outdoor setting of the Atrium of the Church of the Transfiguration, the members of Elements Theatre Company bring all of their passionate dedication and expertise to the Bard's riveting portrayal of a kingdom and families torn apart. Press night is Opening night, August 12, 7:00pm guest lecture Dr. Kathryn Moncrief, followed by outdoor performance 8:00pm.

HERE has announced its 2016-2017 producing season, featuring three HERE Resident Artist world premieres, two international presentations from HERE's renowned Dream Music Puppetry Program, the fifth annual PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now festival, and HERE's yearly CULTUREMART festival, where HERE serves up a first look at new work in process from artists in the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP).

The play opens July 15th and runs Thursday-Saturday nights at 8pm through August 20th.

STELLA ADLER LAB THEATRE COMPANY presents Clifford Odets' Golden Boy, directed by the multi-talented Actor/Director Rick Peters, beginning today, June 17, and running through July 10, 2016. The show will be in the Gilbert Theatre.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting hosted the 11th Annual Stella by Starlight Benefit Gala last night at The Prince George Ballroom in New York City. The event honored actor Jeff Daniels, the late director Nancy Malone, real estate developer Sharif El-Gamal and New York City Department of Correction Deputy Commissioner of Youthful Offender and Young Adult Programming Winette Jackson.

I am a writer. Yet words can hardly explain the rush of emotions I felt this past weekend. I speak plainly because there is no way to convey the immense gratification of being treated as a professional playwright at the age of 16.

In anticipation of Pride Week, Thank You For Coming Out (TYFCO) is teaming up with Fun Home to hold an improv workshop benefiting the organizations I'm From Driftwood and How We G.L.O.W. Each of the four groups amplify the LGBTQ voice in a different way and aim to promote an understanding among communities. This workshop will encourage empathy, inclusivity and acceptance within the LGBTQ community by using and teaching the ideals of improv - listening, trust, respect, affirmation and connection with each other through the principle of Yes, And. TYFCO and Fun Home's main goal is that both I'm From Driftwood and How We G.L.O.W. can take what they learned back to their organizations and continue to inspire others.

M-34 will present the devised physical theatre piece Sweat & Tears, created by Jess Goldschmidt (Tall Women in Clogs at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe; W.R. Salome at Dixon Place) and James Rutherford (All That Dies And Rises at IATI; The Importance of Being Ernest Hemingway at Access Theater) at JACK (502 1/2 Waverly Avenue between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn) July 22-31 with performances on Friday, July 22, Saturday, July 23, Sunday, July 24, Monday, July 25, Thursday, July 28, Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30 at 8pm and Sunday, July 31 at 3pm. Celebrated actress, writer and comedian Natasha Leggero will headline 4th of July weekend festivities at Valley Forge Casino Resort.

Second Stage Theatre  will conclude the 2016 Uptown Series with the New York premiere of Lucy Teitler's ENGAGEMENTS, directed by Kimberly Senior. ENGAGEMENTS will feature JENNIFER KIM, OMAR MASKATI, ANA NOGUEIRA, MICHAEL STAHL-DAVID, and BROOKE WEISMAN .
