Hal Leonard will release vocal selections from CARRIE THE MUSICAL, which won the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Musical Revival in 2012. The book is expected to hit hit shelves and online retailers on Jan. 20, 2014 for $16.99.

Allegiance - A New American Musical, has been eyeing a Broadway run since it premiered at San Diego's Old Globe last fall. Since then, a New York City reading was held, led by Lea Salonga, George Takei and Telly Leung, all of whom starred in the San Diego production, as well as a recent backers screening in Austin. A production source told BroadwayWorld that ALLEGIANCE is aiming for Broadway, possibly in the spring of 2014, but there are numerous variables including star schedules and theatre availability that need to line up, so there is yet no official plan.

Broadway dreams came true for sixty-four students from across the country when they perform alongside their Broadway idols in BDF's Circle of Dreams NYC Showcase at New World Stages. BDF teaches the next generation of musical theater performers how to kick start their career through unique, week-long performance intensives taught by Broadway's brightest stars and savvy industry insiders. Sixty-four exceptional students were nominated from each of the six cities BDF visited this summer to showcase their talents before an audience of the industry's top casting directors, agents and directors. Producers have just announced via Twitter that Scott Alan and Christy Hall's 'Home' will open in London's West End next year. The production will feature direction by Stafford Arima and will be produced by Amzi Entertainment and Julian Stoneman. Additional details have not yet been announced.

Minneapolis Musical Theatre and Hennepin Theatre Trust previously announced that MMT's 2013-14 season will feature Twin Cities debuts of Carrie The Musical, Five Course Love and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson at the Trust's New Century Theatre. Carrie The Musical, based on Stephen King's bestselling novel, runs today, October 4-27, 2013.

On Tuesday, September 3rd, a very selected audience of lucky Austinites were invited to a special invitation-only screening of a developmental production of the Broadway-bound musical, Allegiance, hoping to raise funds and support to further bring the show to the Broadway stage. I was lucky enough to attend, and while it may be unconventional for a theater critic to review or even comment on a piece they technically did not see live (what was shown in Austin was a professionally filmed version of the world premiere production of Allegiance at the Old Globe in San Diego, CA) the show is too good to ignore.

CLEAR was first developed at the 2010 Eugene O'Neill National Music Theatre Conference, and has also received workshop productions at Dixon Place, About Face Theatre, and a concert reading at Pritzker Pavilion for the city of Chicago's IN THE WORKS program.
