BRILLIANCE! MADE HERE to Feature 40 Showcase Storefront Windows with Light-Inspired Minnesota Art, 11/28

Brilliance! Made Here, downtown Minneapolis' urban walking gallery, will unveil a new fall/winter series of nearly 40 storefront window "Showcases," featuring Minnesota art inspired by the creative interpretation of light, on November 28, 2014. Led by Hennepin Theatre Trust and Joan Vorderbruggen, the Trust's Cultural District Arts Coordinator, Made Here is the largest storefront window initiative in the country. Brilliance! lights up the downtown Minneapolis Cultural District during an unveiling and free public launch from 6-7:30 p.m. on the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 28. Festivities will begin at Marin Restaurant and Bar, located at 901 Hennepin Avenue, and lead into guided walking tours of the window galleries at 6 and 7 p.m. The launch also coincides with the opening of the Holidazzle Village featuring the Minneapolis Christmas Market in Peavey Plaza. Fifty years ago, a band of young actors-led by a duo fresh out of San Francisco State-came together through a love of theatre. When they officially formed as a company, South Coast Repertory, the group's first production was Moliere's classic, Tartuffe. As SCR concludes its 50th Season this year, it comes full circle with a new production of Tartuffe, directed by Dominique Serrand, today, May 9-June 8, on the Segerstrom Stage.

'Figaro' Begins at Berkeley Rep April 25

This spring, Berkeley Repertory Theatre's 40th birthday party comes to a gorgeous crescendo with the West Coast premiere of Figaro. After bringing us a delicious date with The Miser in 2006, the Tony Award-winning Theatre de la Jeune Lune returns for another eccentric take on a timeless text. Inspired by Mozart and Beaumarchais, Figaro is adapted by Steven Epp and Dominique Serrand, who also perform the lead roles alongside exceptional actors, superb singers, and a live string quartet. Presented in Berkeley Rep's state-of-the-art Roda Theatre, this magical production begins previews on April 25, opens April 29, and closes June 8.
