INDUSTRY: Theater Report- August 7th, 2017, Take a Look at the Broadway Real Estate for the Upcoming Season

Even though we are in the slow summer season for theatre news, show and casting announcements have been slowly trickling in so that the 2017-2018 Broadway season is beginning to come into sharper focus. The slate is filled with high-profile offerings like FROZEN and HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, exciting revivals including M. BUTTERFLY, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and MY FAIR LADY, intriguing new works like THE BAND'S VISIT and JUNK, and curious newcomers, i.e. SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE.

THE TWILIGHT ZONE, Mike Bartlett Premiere and More Slated for Almeida Theatre's New Season

No '1984' After 2004: Broadway Production Announces Age Restriction

Producers Sonia Friedman and Scott Rudin announced today that the Broadway Premiere of the new stage adaptation of George Orwell's dystopian novel, 1984, will implement, effective immediately, an Age Restriction Policy: No theatergoers born after 2004 will be admitted to 1984.  Audience members must be age 13 years or older in order to enter the Hudson Theatre.  For tickets and info, visithttp://www.revisedtruth.com/.

Olivier Award-winning director Robert Icke's (Mary Stuart, The Red Barn, Uncle Vanya, Oresteia, Mr Burns and 1984) ground-breaking and electrifying production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, starring BAFTA award-winner Andrew Scott (Moriarty in BBC's Sherlock, Denial, Spectre, Design For Living and Cock) in the title role, transfers to the Harold Pinter Theatre, following a critically acclaimed and sell out run at the Almeida Theatre. 2017 JMK Award Winners Announced

The Trustees of the JMK Trust are delighted to announce today that the winner of the 20th anniversary James Menzies-Kitchin Young Director Award is Josh Roche. Chosen after the now-legendary JMK selection process from another record-breaking number of applicants, Josh will be directing My Name is Rachel Corrie, the celebrated piece of verbatim theatre created from the writings of Corrie herself and co-edited by the late Alan Rickman and Katherine Viner. His production will be staged in the autumn at the Young Vic, with performance dates announced soon. The runner up this year was Nathan Crossan-Smith with a proposal for a production of Debbie Tucker-Green's random and will receive a £2,000 award.

1984 Announces Broadway Lottery
