Taped again in front of a live audience at Kings Theatre Brooklyn anddirected by Sandra Restrepo, the first special debuts FRIDAY, FEB. 8 (11:00 p.m.-midnight ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, followed by three more shows subsequent Fridays at the same time. The Drama League presents DirectorFest 2019: The 35th Annual Directors Festival, the only festival in the United States exploring the art of contemporary stage directing, now in its 35th year. The festival will include six fully-staged productions, a showcase evening of a new musical, discussion forums, and conversations with notable American directors. The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica presents the return of The Reverend Shawn Amos for A Night in Harlem on Friday, February 1 at 8:00pm. In celebration of African American History Month, blackbox curator, Amos, returns to the stage for an evening of songs and storytelling - presenting songs from his album, Harlem, for the first time in ten years. The American roots song cycle tells the story of 1920s black Americans' migration from the south to Harlem. Amos' album was inspired by the artists, songs and legacy of the Harlem Renaissance.

Theatre for a New Audience presents About Alice, the world premiere of a new play by Calvin Trillin, inspired by his 2007 memoir of the same name. The production, directed by Leonard Foglia, plays January 8-February 3, 2019 at Polonsky Shakespeare Center (262 Ashland Place, Brooklyn).
Kennedy Holmes, finalist of season 15 on NBC's The Voice, has been added to the entertainment line-up at the Arts and Education Council's St. Louis Arts Awards on January 21. She will perform alongside acclaimed jazz pianist Peter Martin, a 2012 Excellence in the Arts recipient. The performance is a nod to Lifetime Achievement in the Arts recipient Ken Page, with whom Holmes appeared in The Muny's "Aida" in 2016, and Champion of the Arts recipient Sue Greenberg, company manager at The Muny and executive director of St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts.
