Signature Theatre Names Cast and Creative of AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' Image

Signature Theatre is proud to announce the full cast and creative team for Ain't Misbehavin': The Fats Waller Musical Show directed by Signature Theatre's Director of New Works Joe Calarco (Signature's The Scottsboro Boys, Jesus Christ Superstar) and choreographed by Jared Grimes (Signature's The Scottsboro Boys, Jelly's Last Jam). Signature's MAX Theatre will be converted into a 1930s Harlem night club for this tribute to the music of Thomas "Fats" Waller. This Tony Award-winning musical includes the beloved tunes "The Joint is Jumpin'," "Honeysuckle Rose," "Handful of Keys" and more. Ain't Misbehavin' runs from January 23 - March 10, 2019.

"It will be thrilling to have the great jazz music of Fats Waller on our stage with a stunning company of DC actors and musicians celebrating his artistry," said Signature Theatre Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. "Ain't Misbehavin' promises to be the perfect kick-off to the new year."

The production will star Iyona Blake (Signature's Titanic, Jelly's Last Jam), Kevin McAllister (Signature's A Little Night Music, Broadway's Come From Away), Solomon Parker III (Signature's Billy Elliot, Ford's Theatre's The Wiz), Nova Y. Payton (Signature's Jelly's Last Jam, Dremagirls) and Korinn Walfall (Signature's Jesus Christ Superstar). Mark G. Meadows (Signature's Jelly's Last Jam, Motown: The Reprise Cabaret) returns to Signature as the production's musical director and onstage pianist. The production swings are Da'Von T. Moody (Ford's Theatre's The Wiz) and Kanysha Williams (MetroStage's Around the Snake Turn).

"Ain't Misbehavin, one of the hallmark evenings of entertainment in Broadway history, immerses its audience in the genius of the Harlem Renaissance," said director Joe Calarco. "I couldn't feel luckier that this celebration of black excellence is gifted with the brilliance of Nova, Kevin, Iyona, Solomon, and Korinn."

The creative team includes Scenic Design by Paige Hathaway (Signature's John, The Gulf), Lighting Design by Sherrice Mojgani (Signature's The Scottsboro Boys), Costume Design by Sarita P. Fellows (Classical Theatre's Macbeth), Sound Design by Ryan Hickey (Signature's Billy Elliot), Wig and Hair Design by Tommy Kurzman (Broadway's Bright Star), Assistant Choreographer DeWitt Fleming, Jr. (Signature's The Scottsboro Boys), Production Stage Manager Kerry Epstein, Assistant Stage Manager Becky Reed, Casting by Kelly Crandall d'Amboise.
