As we come to the last week of June, and get serious about our plans for the 4th of July (on a WEDNESDAY this year!), I trust you are planning on attending some of the productions currently playing at any of the several theatre and live performance establishments here in the heart of the California Central Coast!

Simon Callow has brought his highly acclaimed show BEING SHAKESPEARE to the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre at the Broadway Playhouse for a limited engagement through April 29, 2012. "A Measure of Cruelty" tells the story of a peaceful South Florida neighborhood rocked by headlines, and a local bar owner struggling to keep the peace with his son. But as a storm grows ever closer, the men are forced to come to terms with each other and their long-guarded secrets. Carbonell Award-winning director Richard Jay Simon will stage this exciting new play with a creative team that includes resident set designer Douglas Grinn, lighting designer John Hall, sound designer Matt Corey (2011 Carbonell Award Winner), resident costume designer K. Blair Brown, production stage manager Linda Harris and graphics/photography by George Schiavone.

Simon Callow has returned to London's Trafalgar Studios 1 to reprise his highly acclaimed show BEING SHAKESPEARE for a strictly limited season from 7 to 31 March, before heading across the seas to appear at the Brooklyn Academy Of Music in New York and then at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre at the Broadway Playhouse.

Simon Callow will be returning to London's Trafalgar Studios 1 this March to reprise his highly acclaimed show BEING SHAKESPEARE for a strictly limited season from 7 to 31 March, before heading across the seas to appear at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York and then at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre at the Broadway Playhouse. In BEING SHAKESPEARE, Simon brings to life Shakespeare's unforgettable characters as well as the real man behind the legend. The play had a record-breaking run in the West End last summer, following a hugely successful tour and staging at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010.
