International City Theatre has announced its 2018 season of five plays at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, where ICT is the resident professional theater company.

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble (BTE), the professional Equity company in residence at the McAninch Arts Center opens its 2017-2018 season with "The 39 Steps," adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan. BTE Ensemble Member Kurt Naebig* directs this zany Hitchcock-inspired whodunit.  Performances runSept. 7-Oct. 8. There will be a preview performance on Sept. 7 at 8 p.m.; press opening is Friday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m.

Harry Potter mania grips London, while over the pond the States is seized by Hamilton fever. What do they have in common? The fifth longest-running play in the West End, The 39 Steps is currently being performed country-wide as part of its tenth anniversary tour. This multiple award-winning comedy was originally adapted by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon  from Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 film of the same name for a cast of only four people. It had humble beginnings and played to small audiences in village halls across the North of England. Some ten years later, Patrick Barlow rewrote the script whilst keeping the intimate nature and genius simplicity already found. It is this version, albeit with different directors in different venues, that has had great success.

?The West End's long-running show - the Olivier Award-Winning comedy, The 39 Steps - will visit Birmingham Repertory Theatre from 29 February to 5 March, on a special 10th anniversary tour.

39 STEPS celebrated its final performance last night, January 3rd, at the Union Square Theatre, after having played 14 previews and 303 regular performances. Cast member Robert Petkoff took a photo of the closing night audience, who donned red noses for the occasion. Original Broadway and off-Broadway cast member Arnie Burton just departed the two-time Tony Award winning hilarious hit comedy 39 STEPS following his 1,000th performance as Man #2/Clown #2 last night, September 28th. Having originated the role in the original Broadway production, Burton returned for the current engagement at the Union Square Theatre. Cameron Pow (The Lion King) will join the cast on Wednesday, September 30th, taking over for Burton.
