2011 British Consul General Award to Honor Chicago Shakespeare Theater

On the eve of its 25th Anniversary Season, Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) has been named a recipient of the 2011 British Consul General Award in recognition of sharing its acclaimed productions abroad and regularly engaging celebrated UK artists through its World's Stage Series.

Multi-award winning Rogue Machine is extending the performance schedule for David Harrower's critically acclaimed play, Blackbird (CRITIC'S CHOICE-LA Times; GO - LA Weekly, CRITIC'S PICK-Backstage, Ovation RECOMMENDED), staged in Los Angeles for the first time. The company's recently extended run of Small Engine Repair (CRITIC'S CHOICE-LA Times; GO - LA Weekly, CRITIC'S PICK-Backstage, Ovation RECOMMENDED) runs through August 27th (moved to the Beverly Hills Playhouse).

CHATTER: Bagert Bringing PICNIC & KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Back to Bway?

Broadway producer Darren Bagert has just revealed that there are plans to bring both PICNIC and KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN back to the Great White Way. The Tony-winner mentioned in a recent statement that a revival of PICNIC will arrive on Broadway in the 2011-12 season, featuring direction by Sam Gold. Additionally, Jose Rivera and Allan Baker are working onA new adaptation of SPIDER WOMAN, which is also scheduled to make it to Broadway in the 2011-12 season. Peter DuBois is on board to direct the production.

Sienna Miller, James Purefoy and Sheridan Smith lead the cast in Terence Rattigan's Flare Path at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, directed by Trevor Nunn. Flare Path is produced by Matthew Byam Shaw for Playful Productions, Theatre Royal Haymarket Company, Act Productions Ltd and Tom McKitterick.

Gustavo Dudamel Re-Imagines Shakespeare Through Tchaikovsky

Gustavo Dudamel, the 'energetic ambassador for classical music' (Vanity Fair), returns with this all-new Deutsche Grammophon recording of symphonic works derived from Shakespeare as re-imagined in music by Tchaikovsky. Leading the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela for their sixth collaboration on the Yellow Label, this new recording will be available everywhere on March 8.

James Purefoy, Sheridan Smith & Sienna Miller to Star in Nunn-Directed FLARE PATH

James Purefoy and Sheridan Smith will join Sienna Miller in Terence Rattigan's Flare Path, directed by Trevor Nunn at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Opening on 10 March 2011 with previews from 4 March 2011 Flare Path is booking until 4 June 2011. Set and costumes are by Stephen Brimson Lewis. Flare Path is produced by Matthew Byam Shaw for Playful Productions, Tom McKitterick and the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company in association with Act Productions Ltd.

The Golden Globe nominated daughter of British director Peter Hall reveals: 'My general rule is one piece of theatre for every three films. I think it's how to preserve one's mystique. I like disappearing, and I think I'll always do it.'
