BREAKING: Shakespeare's Globe's TWELFTH NIGHT & RICHARD III to Transfer to Broadway in the Fall; Mark Rylance to Star

Two-time Tony Award-winner Mark Rylance (Jerusalem, Boeing-Boeing) will star on Broadway in two startlingly different performances in repertory: as the suddenly love struck noblewoman Olivia in Twelfth Night and as the ruthless and conniving title monarch in Richard III. The critically heralded all-male Shakespeare's Globe productions of Twelfth Night and Richard III, which delighted audiences and broke all box office records in London's West End earlier this year, will openSunday, November 10 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street), with previews beginning October 15. The productions, directed by Tim Carroll, designed byJenny Tiramani and with music by Claire van Kampen, will play a limited engagement for 16 weeks. BWW Reviews: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM Combines Puppets and Live Action at the Spoleto Festival

There is much to love about the innovative production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Tom Morris, that is currently playing at the Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, S.C. as part of the Spoleto Festival. A spare company of twelve actors enacts a large cast of characters with the help of puppets composed of inventive materials ranging from classical masks to simple workmen's tools. A co-production by the U.K.'s Bristol Old Vic and Handspring Puppet Company from South Africa, the production is a visual feast chock full of imaginative surprises.

Bristol Old Vic and Handspring Puppet Co's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM to Make American Premiere at Spoleto Festival USA, Today

Co-commissioned by Spoleto Festival USA, Bristol Old Vic's new production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will have its American premiere performance today, May 25 at 8pm at the Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, South Carolina. The production, which is directed by Tom Morris in association with South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company is the first collaboration between the two companies since their award-winning production of War Horse. Midsummer will run for 19 performances throughout the 17-day Festival and a full list of performances during the 2013 Spoleto Festival USA is listed below.

Gemma Arterton Plays Lead in MADE IN DAGENHAM Workshop; Production Aims for West End 2013-14?

According to the Daily Mail, Gemma Arterton played the lead role of 'Rita' in a workshop production of the musical adaptation of the film Made In Dagenham. There is not yet a London theater or deal drawn up for a full production, but the Mail reports that Arterton has expressed her 'keenness to move ahead with the project.' The show is aiming to take the stage in about a year.

Players Foundation Extends 'The Half' Exhibit Through 6/29

THE PLAYERS FOUNDATION FOR THEATER EDUCATION Executive Director John Martello announced the two-week extension of the The Half: Photographs of Actors Preparing for the State, an exhibition of celebrity photographs of actors in their dressing rooms taken by Simon Annand in the 30 minutes before curtain up, known as the half. The exhibition will now run until June 29th, 2012 at THE PLAYERS (16 Gramercy Park South, New York) and is accompanied by Annand's book The Half.

SOUTH PACIFIC to Open at Palladium This Fall?

According to a report by Baz Bamigboye for Daily Mail, SOUTH PACIFIC, which is currently touring the UK, might open at the London Palladium this fall. An official announcement has not yet been made.
