Producing Artistic Director Carolyn Griffin has announced A Broadway Christmas Carol, created by Kathy Feininger, will return to MetroStage for the holidays today, Nov. 25-Dec. 28 for a fifth season.

Virginia Repertory Theatre presents the award-winning musical, Mame, at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street, running through January 11, 2014. Mame is based on the novel, Auntie Mame, by Patrick Dennis with a book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee and unforgettable music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. The show originally opened on Broadway in 1966 and starred Angela Lansbury and Beatrice Arthur. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) continues its 2014-2015 mainstage season with one of William Shakespeare's late masterpieces,The Tempest. STC Affiliated Artist Ethan McSweeny, following his imaginative production of A Midsummer Night's Dream two seasons ago, applies his flair for visual panache to The Tempest, in which sprites, goddesses and fools hold court. The Tempest will play at the Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from December 2, 2014-January 11, 2015.

The New Group continues its 20th Anniversary Season with the New York Premiere of Rasheeda Speaking, by Joel Drake Johnson, helmed by Cynthia Nixon in her directorial debut. This production features Patricia Conolly, Darren Goldstein, and as previously announced, Tonya Pinkins and Dianne Wiest. A limited Off-Broadway engagement plays January 27 - March 22, 2015, with Official Opening Night set for Wednesday, February 11 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).

Signature Theatre's U.S. Premiere of A PARTICLE OF DREAD(OEDIPUS VARIATIONS) by Sam Shepard, directed by Nancy Meckler opened last night at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues. The production will now play through Sunday, January 4, 2015.

Wallis Center for the Performing Arts (aka The Wallis) announces Betty Buckley: Ghostlight for a single performance on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 8:00 pm in the Bram Goldsmith Theater.

It has been the holiday show for the past four seasons and has become a holiday tradition here at MetroStage. Prior to 2009, it had played to sold out houses at Round House Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland, for seven consecutive years ending in 2004.

On November 17, at the Annual Membership Meeting in New York City, SDC announced the results of the 2014 Executive Board Elections.

Signature Theatre has announced a one-week extension for the World Premiere of OUR LADY OF KIBEHO by Katori Hall, directed by Michael Greif. The production will now play through Sunday, December 14, 2014. The production opened to critical acclaim on Sunday, November 16 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, under the leadership of Diane Paulus, Artistic Director, begins performances of the second production of its 2014/15 Season: the world premiere of Eve Ensler's O.P.C. Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Mamoudou Athie, Diane Lane, Gayle Rankin, and Tony Shalhoub will be featured in its upcoming production of THE MYSTERY OF LOVE AND SEX, a new play by Bathsheba Doran. The production, which will be directed by Sam Gold, will begin previews Thursday, February 5 and open on Monday, March 2 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

On March 30, 2015, Virginia's Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre will honor the multiple Tony Award-winning Broadway playwright and director James Lapine with the company's sixth Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential musical theatre writer and composer, will be presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy. The Sondheim Award Gala will benefit Signature Theatre's artistic, education, and community programs.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Broadway production this fall, Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater mounts a new staging of Fiddler on the Roof, the iconic musical that has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. Helmed by Artistic Director Molly Smith, the production features choreography by Arena favoriteParker Esse, who adapts the original Jerome Robbins choreography for an in-the-round staging, and a 10-piece orchestra led by Musical Director Paul Sportelli (Arena's My Fair Lady, Light in the Piazza). 59E59 Theaters and Strangemen & Co., in association with Robb Nanus and Rachel Sussman, present the return engagement of The Woodsman to 59E59 Theaters, Theater B (59 East 59 Street between Park and Madison Avenues). Directed by James Ortiz and Claire Karpen, with associate direction by Devin Dunne Cannon. The Woodsman begins performances Tuesday, January 13, 2015 and opens Sunday, January 18, 2015. The Woodsman will play a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, February 22, 2015.
