BWW Review: Theater 9/12's SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION – Strong Performances but a Bit Static

There's something to be said for a bunch of actors, putting in the work and leaving it all out on the stage unencumbered by elaborate sets. That's why I love Theater 9/12's shows as it's all about the performances. Plus the shows are always so intimate in their little parish hall space that you really feel part of the world they've created. This is why their current production of "Six Degrees of Separation" works so well especially with the narrative quality of much of the dialog. And while many of the performances were quite strong and noteworthy, the show as a whole tended to get a little static.

Theatre9/12 to Present SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION This Winter

In a deeply divided country where red and blue are miles apart, the actors of Theatre9/12 present a play celebrating the connection of all human souls and the duality of existence.  John Guare's multi-award winning play-nominated for a Pulitzer Prize-Six Degrees of Separation is about a wealthy Manhattan couple who are visited upon by a bloodied college student who turns out to be Sidney Poitier's son-or is he?  This funny and harrowing AEA member project code production features 17 local actors from Theatre9/12's collective.

BWW Review: Compelling and Relevant CLYBOURNE PARK by CPH/CWRU

This country is in political and social turmoil. There is a President-elect who appears will win the Electoral College endorsement, while losing the election by a reported 2-million plus votes. There is a rise of xenophobia, the Alt-right, the presence of hate groups, possible destruction of the health care system, while the liberal-left pleads for protection against sexual imposition, women and gay rights, and clean air.

BWW Review: SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION at Keegan

More than 25 years after it was first staged, 'Six Degrees of Separation,' John Guare's sly tale of a young con man captivating and ultimately fooling an upper East Side couple, seems almost like a period piece.
