Santa Monica Playhouse presents the latest in its Jerry Mayer-a-thon Celebration with a new production of Mayer's award-winning romantic comedy 'A Love Affair' featuring Playhouse Co-Artistic Directors Evelyn Rudie (Eloise, Playhouse 90, A Touch of Love, Audition: The Musical!) and Chris DeCarlo (Author! Author! an evening with Sholom Aleichem, Moliere's The Fools, Aspirin & ELEPHANTS) , Andrea Adnoff (Sunday on the Rocks, Pasadena Playhouse; The Lucky 6; Legend of Woodview Road), Jacob Cooper (We Are Marshall - Warner Bros; Clybourne Park; La Bete) and Rachel Galper (Turning Thirty, A DeLUSIONAL Affair, How to Love a Republican) on stage now through November 19th.
Palm Beach Gardens will add live theatre to its ever-growing cultural landscape when the PGA Arts Center opens its doors in late January. Veteran producers Philip Roger Roy and Dana Matthow have taken a multi-year lease on the PGA Cinemas, located at 4076 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens, and are in the process of converting two of the building's six auditoria to accommodate live productions. The two theatres will seat 260 and 280 patrons respectively. They plan to adapt a third space - which will seat approximately 160, and be available for rentals - within the next year.
Actor, vocalist and activist Theodore Bikel died July 21, 2015 at age 91 in Los Angeles. He will be remembered in a memorial concert in New York City, titled 'Remembering Theo - an evening of music, laughter and love,' September 27 in The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th Street between Park and Lexington Ave.). The evening will feature musical performances by many of Bikel's friends and treasured colleagues.
