LA's Lounge Theatre Presents Rita O'Farrell's PEDESTRIAN, 4/27-5/27

Pedestrian, a new comedy by Rita O'Farrell, which had its world premiere in the 2011 Hollywood Fringe Festival, will have a limited run at the Lounge Theatre. Directed by Marjo-Riikka Makela, performances will begin on Friday, April 27, with opening set for Sunday, April 29 at 7pm. The limited engagement will run through May 27 only.

Steve Silver's BEACH BLANKET BABYLON Presents Sign Language Interpreted Performance Tonight

Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, the world's longest running musical revue, is proud to present a sign language interpreted performance for the hearing impaired on Sunday, April 15 at 5 p.m. Tickets for this special performance range in price from $25 - $130 and are available now at beachblanketbabylon.com, by phone at (415) 421-4222 or at the Beach Blanket Babylon Box Office (678 Green Street). Tickets may also be purchased by fax at (415) 421-4817. TTY users may call the California Relay System at (800) 735-2929. Tickets are being held for hearing impaired audience members. To ensure optimal seating locations for viewing of both the interpreters and the stage, ticket buyers should indicate that they or members of their party will be using this service at the time of ticket purchase.

Ty Stephens Returns to Birdland, 5/7

The Broadway at Birdland concert series today announced that Ty Stephens & SoulJaazz will be returning to the stage on Monday, May 7 at 7pm.

Genesis Repertory Expands to Two Locations

Genesis Repertory - in the 3+ years it maintained residence in Brooklyn - has continued its acclaimed classical stage, premiered musicals and new works, expanded its training program to include acting, voice, young people's programs, and playwrighting, and even premiered a film at New York's Anthology Film Archives, now takes on a second location: The Block Institute's Block Academy, located at 133 27th Avenue, houses a 650-seat theater with it's own entrance, private bathrooms, dressing areas, and kitchen/concession. Mary Elizabeth MiCari, Genesis' artistic director, decided to inaugurate this new space with the company's The Final Projects, part of its arts intensive training program, Genesis University on Stage. The event will be Saturday night, April 21 at 8:00 p.m. $10 All Seats.

CoffeeHouse Productions Premieres THE CLOSENESS OF THE HORIZON, 5/18-6/24

True friendship is a journey - there is no roadmap. Award-winning playwright Richard Martin Hirsch takes us back to the Summer of '69, exploring the fragile nature of friendship in a world premiere dramedy inspired by true events. Darin Anthony directs The Closeness of the Horizon for a six-week run May 18 through June 24, presented by CoffeeHouse Productions at the Odyssey Theatre in West Los Angeles.

The seven-show 2012/2013 Taco/The White Family Foundation Broadway Series includes the launch of the national tours of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN and ELF, along with MEMPHIS, JEKYLL & HYDE, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, SISTER ACT, and WAR HORSE.

Broadway in Indianapolis Announces 2012-2013 Season

Broadway in Indianapolis announces its 2012-13 season. The season will leap into play with the 2009 Tony Award-winning Best Musical BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL, an inspirational story, with music by Elton John, of one boy's journey to make his dreams come true. Two other new titles join the series: SISTER ACT, a comedy with glorious music and even greater heart, and Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT, which has boldly taken the American musical where it's never gone before. JERSEY BOYS will be making its way back to Indianapolis after an engagement in June of 2010, telling the tale of The Four Seasons' road to stardom. Finally, this series will conclude with WEST SIDE STORY, the story of forbidden love with the legendary score by Bernstein and Sondheim.

Lehman Center Presents Gloria Gaynor, Colonel Abrams & The Hit Men, 4/21

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts continues its 31st season with a night of dance hits on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 8pm. One of dance music's biggest stars for over three decades, GRAMMY Award winner GLORIA GAYNOR will perform with a full band. Her 1979 #1 hit, the greatest disco anthem of all time, "I Will Survive," is her signature song of inspiration that has touched the hearts of people all over the world. The song was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame at this year's ceremony in February. Urban and dance music phenomenon COLONEL ABRAMS will perform his biggest hits, including "Trapped," "I'm Not Gonna Let You" and "How Soon We Forget." Also performing will be THE HIT MEN, a group of six guys who made, played, sang and recorded the hits of the '60s, '70s and '80s. This group features original recording and performing members of such iconic bands as Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons and Tommy James and The Shondells and the original recording artists of such historic megahits as "Oh What a Night (Dec. '63)," "Sherry," "Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown" and 'Who Loves You."

Maryland Ensemble Theatre Presents New Adaptation of ANTIGONE, 3/22-4/15

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents a new world premiere adaptation of Sophocles' tragic classic greek tragedy, Antigone, which pits the courageous title character against King Creon and the laws of Thebes in defense of her brother's honor with fatal consequences. Antigone will run from March 22nd to April 15th every Thursday through Sunday except Easter (4/8) at Maryland Ensemble Theatre (31 W. Patrick St. Frederick MD 21701). All shows are at 8pm except Sundays at 7pm and one Sunday matinee at 2pm on April 1 which will be followed by a talk back with the writer, director, cast and special guest Linda Pappas Funsch, a Middle East scholar from Frederick Community College . Tickets are $15 - $24 (except $5 preview performance on 3/22) and may be purchased online at marylandensemble.org, by phone at (301) 694-4744 or in person at the MET box office. The opening will be celebrated on Sunday, March 25th at 6pm with a pre-show reception catered by The Greene Turtle preceding the performance at 7pm.

Folk Music Society of New York Announces Monthy Open Sing Starting 3/22

The Folk Music Society of NY has announced a monthly series of informal participatory music evenings with hosts Anne Price and Arthur Sherry. March 22 will be the first of a monthly series on the fourth Thursday of the month from 7-10pm in the private side room of Le Chéile.
