The Sonoma State University Department of Theatre Arts & Dance 2013-2014 performance season, showcasing emerging talents of Sonoma State University students studying dance, theater and music, continues with the beloved Broadway musical 'Fiddler on the Roof.'

January and February have seen sell-out performances at the Crazy Coqs and March and April look set to continue the trend.

The York Theatre Company, as part of its Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series, presents A Conversation with Sheldon Harnick, a one-night only special event on Monday, February 10 at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

The York Theatre Company continues the Winter 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series Celebrating Sheldon Harnick with the musical Dragons featuring Book, Lyrics and Music by Sheldon Harnick. Directed by Maggie Harrer, and with Music Direction by Beth Ertz, the cast features David Buskin, Ed Dixon, Danny Gardner, Katherine Henly, Mary Page Nance, Camille Palmisano, Laura O. Pfortmiller, Alan Schmuckler, Gordon Stanley, Marcus Stevens, Olga Talyn, Stephanie Umoh, Bray Wilkins, and William Youmans. Meet the cast and creative team below!

Light Opera Works' 2014 season will begin with DAMN YANKEES starring artistic director Rudy Hogenmiller (June 7-15), followed by FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (August 9-24), COLE PORTER'S GREATEST HITS (October 3-12), and THE MERRY WIDOW (December 19-31).

The Cleveland POPS Orchestra with Carl Topilow pays tribute to the musical genius of Marvin Hamlisch in a special concert at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21st in Severance Hall. The concert will feature three of the performers who worked with Hamlisch and knew him well. Broadway legends Donna McKechnie, Jodi Benson, Doug LaBrecque, along with POPS conductor Topilow, will share behind-the-scenes experiences and personal conversations they had with Marvin.

The Media Theatre brings 'Tradition' to Summer Camp with the Summer Youth Project Musical, 'Fiddler On The Roof'.

Today in 1976, the first Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof opened at the Winter Garden Theatre. Featuring music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, the story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964, had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances. It spawned four Broadway revivals, a successful 1971 film adaptation, and the show has enjoyed enduring international popularity. The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) has announced that its 2013 donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will total $1.4 million dollars, marking the largest single contribution in BC/EFA history and bringing the foundation's total contribution to BC/EFA to $8.35 million since 2005.

Last night I had the pleasure of speaking to two of the hottest producers in Hollywood and on Broadway all about their recent smash hit December with the ratings bonanza of NBC's live presentation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE SOUND OF MUSIC as well as the three-network tent-pole two-night TV event, BONNIE & CLYDE - the peerless Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
