Nominations for the 2019 Chita Rivera Awards were announced today. In keeping with the mission of the Chita Rivera Awards, nominators considered shows and films that opened during the 2018-2019 theater season.

The 6th season of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab launches on Monday, April 22nd, 2019. The lab is currently seeking submissions for choreographers through February 18th. Funded in part by a generous gift from the Amber Foundation, the Choreography Lab was created to elevate and expand the use of dance in musical theatre. It is also the only curated choreography platform where choreographers and writers collaborate to develop movement for new musicals during incubation.

The fifth season of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab concludes on Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at 2pm at The Cell. Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault announced that acclaimed Washington actor Craig Wallace will return to Ford's to perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge for the company's holiday production of A Christmas Carol. Performances of the classic Charles Dickens story begin November 15 and continue for a six-and-a-half-week engagement through December 30, 2018. This "musically high-spirited" and "infectiously jolly" (The Washington Post) production is adapted by Michael Wilson and directed by Michael Baron.

The Ziegfeld Club, Inc., one of New York City's first performing arts charities to benefit women, is thrilled to announce that Lucille Lortel Award-Nominee Julianne Wick Davis (Southern Comfort) has been named the recipient of the fourth annual Billie Burke Ziegfeld Award (BBZA). Created to honor a female composer of musical theatre, the BBZA is a prestigious $10,000 cash grant. In addition, the recipient receives one year of artistic and professional mentorship from a prominent composer and a producer of musical theatre.

While the exact location of composer Ben Green, lyricist Greg Edwards and bookwriter Allan Rice's funny and frothy new musical dating adventure, Neurosis, is never revealed, it's a safe bet that New Yorkers, who have glamorized and romanticized neurotic tendencies into a beloved badge of honor, will mightily relate to its wacky antics in the name of love.

NEUROSIS, a new musical with a book by Allan Rice, music by Ben Green, and lyrics by Greg Edwards, announced today that Danny Gardner (Dames at Sea) and Natalie Charle Ellis (School of Rock) will be joining the cast as "Frank" and "Samantha," respectively, beginning September 26, 2018.

There are times in musical theatre when a talented cast performing their hearts out can make questionable material not only endurable, but even somewhat enjoyable. Sadly, this is not the case with R.R.R.E.D., which, while given a game try by a quartet of enthusiastic belters displaying ample showbiz pizzazz, begins with a potentially interesting idea and never goes anywhere with it.
