Dementia is a difficult topic to tackle on stage, mainly due to the intensely internal struggle that the disease inflicts. Florian Zeller handled it beautifully in The Father and now Lisa Genova's novel Still Alice has been adapted into a sensitive yet hard-hitting play that confronts the brutal and seismic effects of the disease on a talented and relatively young woman and her family.

Following the announcement of The Lovely Bones, A Christmas Carol and Everyman rock 'n' roll panto The Snow Queen earlier this year, the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse has revealed its full programme for Autumn Winter 2018. Book adaptations, comedians, music, familiar faces and new collaborations to join their in-house productions for the season.

Sharon Small To Star In UK Tour Of STILL ALICE

Michael Park announces that, following a hugely successful three-week run at West Yorkshire Playhouse earlier this year, Christine Mary Dunford's newly adapted version of Lisa Genova's best-selling novel, STILL ALICE, will tour the UK from September 2018, directed by David Grindley and starring Sharon Small as Alice. The tour will open at the Sheffield Lyceum from 12 to 15 September and will play Richmond Theatre from 18 to 22 September, King's Theatre Edinburgh from 25 to 29 September, Norwich Theatre Royal from 2 to 6 October the Yvonne Arnaud, Guildford from 9 to 13 October and Festival Theatre, Malvern from 20 to 24 November. Further venues and casting are to be announced.

National Theatre Live previously announced international broadcasts of the Rufus Norris' National Theatre production of The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann, in a new adaptation by Simon Stephens tonight, September 22, 2016; and, Carrie Cracknell's acclaimed National Theatre production of Terence Rattigan's The Deep Blue Sea on Thursday, October 6, 2016.

Over 60 Artists Set for THE ILIAD at Almeida Theatre

A company of more than 60 artists will bring The Iliad to life in a durational reading on Friday 14 August. The reading will begin at the British Museum and culminate on the Almeida stage. The marathon reading is the latest event in the theatre's Almeida Greeks Festival which has so far seen Robert Icke's critically acclaimed production of Oresteia transfer to Trafalgar Studios in the West End and James Macdonald's production of Bakkhai play to sold out houses at the Almeida.
