Moving Image's SEE IT BIG! Series Tributes Great Cinematographers, 11/8-12/29

Museum of the Moving Image's ongoing series See It Big! presents classic and contemporary films on the big screen in the beautiful Sumner M. Redstone Theater. In November and December, the Museum will showcase 22 films photographed by some of the world's greatest cinematographers, including Gordon Willis, Vittorio Storaro, Vilmos Zsigmond, Nestor Almendros, Raoul Coutard, James Wong Howe, and more. The series, See It Big!: Great Cinematographers, runs from November 8 through December 29, 2013.

Intersection for the Arts and California Shakespeare Present CALIFAS FESTIVAL thru 11/17

Intersection for the Arts and the California Shakespeare Theater come together this fall to co-produce the Califas Festival, a six week-long immersive, story-filled play yard of music, visual art, performance, and more in the area in and around Intersection's headquarters. The Festival is the culminating event of the Califas Project, a year of multimedia creative exploration in communities around the state including productions of Richard Montoya's The River at Campo Santo this past March, and American Night at Cal Shakes in June.

THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY HOLDS ITS 37th ANNUAL VILLAGE HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL OCTOBER 31. Underground stars perform each year in TNC's Halloween Cabarets. Guests will see, be seen and vie for costume prizes. Celebrants will sink fangs into Halloween delicacies in The Witches' Cauldron.

Veteran actor John Noble, famous for his acclaimed tenure as eccentric scientist “Walter Bishop” on the FOX cult-classic “Fringe,” will appear in a recurring guest-starring role on the new hit drama SLEEPY HOLLOW

Craig McLachlan to Lead Australian ROCKY HORROR SHOW National Tour; Launches 10 Jan. 2014 from Brisbane

Producers Howard Panter and John Frost today announced that the coveted role of Frank N Furter in the new Australian production of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show will be played by television and theatre star Craig McLachlan. The much loved iconic musical will open in January 2014 at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, Brisbane followed by seasons at the Crown Theatre, Perth in February, and the Festival Theatre, Adelaide in March.

James Gillan and Paul Spicer Lead World Premiere of THE 8TH FOLD at Duchess Theatre, Nov 10

James Gillan (Wicked, Taboo) and Paul Spicer (Avenue Q, The Last 5 Years) will headline the world premiere of the brand new British born musical The 8th Fold in a specially conceived concert staging. Poignantly timed to take place on Remembrance Sunday, The 8th Fold will be performed for one night only at the West End's Duchess Theatre on Sunday 10th November.

18th Annual LOWER EAST SIDE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS Kicks Off Today at TNC

THE LOWER EAST SIDE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS (LES) celebrates its 18th year of bringing together -- in one location, over three days -- more than 100 performing arts organizations, local and international celebrities, independent artists, poets, playwrights, musicians, puppeteers, film makers and many others, all of whom reside, work or have their roots in the culturally diverse Lower East Side. Once again this year, New York City's most diverse FREE 3-day, indoor and outdoor cultural celebration will take place on Memorial Day Weekend, from today, May 24 through Sunday, May 26, at Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue, between E. 9th and 10th Sts.) in Manhattan.

On Sunday, May 19, at The Globe Theatre, 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (www.gmcla.org), whose mission is to change hearts and minds through the power of music, presented the 2013 Voice Awards. This year the organization honored American Idol, AT&T, activists Fred Arens and Jason Duguay, and writer/director Liesel Reinhart. Mel B, Spice Girl and a new judge on America's Got Talent, presented international pop star Adam Lambert with the Davidson/Valentini Award Saturday night, May 11th, at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco. Lambert was also the co-recipient of the award for Outstanding Music Artist for his albumTrespassing; he tied with Frank Ocean for Ocean's debut album Channel Orange.
