Ballet Conservatory dancers from the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) will perform Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and Benjamin Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra with the Metrowest Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Peter L. Cokkinias. The collaborative performance is part of the Hopkinton-based Orchestra's "Artists in Bloom" Family Concert, to be presented on Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph P. Keefe Technical School Auditorium, 750 Winter Street, in Framingham. The program also features Aaron Copland's Outdoor Overture and Maurice Ravel's Tzigane, with 16-year-old violin soloist Elizabeth Kim, winner of the Orchestra's annual Young Artist Competition.

Mikaela Guidice, 11, of Norfolk, Shaina McGillis, 15, of Franklin, and Noura Sander, 13, of Easton, will join the ranks of 5,000 other 9-19 year-old aspiring dancers worldwide to compete in America's oldest and the world's largest student ballet scholarship competition. This year's U.S. semi-finals will be held in 10 states, with international semi-finals in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Japan and Mexico. The YAGP weekend also features workshops with master teachers and will take place at Festival Ballet Providence.

A popular and highly-anticipated FPAC tradition for more than 20 years, The Nutcracker brings international ballet stars, world-class musicians and 100 area dancers to one suburban stage. Special guest artists Dalay Parrondo and Bradley Schlagheck, Boston Ballet soloists, will dance the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier. Franklin's Nick Paone will reprise the role of Dr. Drosselmeyer. Delighting the imaginations of audiences of all ages, FPAC's magical journey of The Nutcracker will also feature a professional orchestra under the direction of Peter Cokkinias.

Electric Youth (EY), the international touring ensemble of singer-dancers trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA), debuts in England and France this summer. EY departs August 5 for two weeks abroad, marking the group's 10th European concert tour. Performance venues include Disneyland Paris and Barfleur's Courtyard Les Amuseurs, along the coast of Normandy, as well as theatres in Bristol, London, Wimborne and Windsor. The group also will enjoy guided historical tours in many of the regions visited.

Pro Musica in a concert performance of Prokofiev's Cinderella Suite. The ballet excerpt, choreographed by Clyde Nantais, is part of Symphony Pro Musica's "Musical Matinee: A Family Concert." Performances are at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 26 at Hudson High School and on Sunday, January 27 at Westborough High School. Under the direction of founder and Music Director Mark Churchill, the premier MetroWest community symphony orchestra will present a family-friendly program that also includes Poulenc's The Story of Babar with narration and Saint-Saen's The Elephant and Fossils with student musicians from Hudson and Westborough.
