Lapalux Announces New Album AMNIOVERSE

Lapalux (aka Stuart Howard) returns to Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder for his fourth album. Amnioverse—“a sort of portmanteau of the amniotic sac and the universe,” he explains—revolves around notions of fluidity; that birth, life, death, and rebirth on a never ending continuum.

BWW Review: EITHER, Hampstead Theatre

Ruby Thomas' debut play is a delicious mix of humour, intelligence and desire. Playing at Hampstead Downstairs and directed by Guy Jones, the production is an energetic attack at the conventional monogamous relationship so many people find themselves in.

BWW Review: Dance Fail at Fall For Dance

The continued proliferation of rhythmless music plunges Fall For Dance 2019's Program 1 into a miasma of middling potpourri. From Kyle Abraham rendering Misty Copeland into a sterile robot to Crystal Pite's droning narration, this was an evening sorely in need of inventive rhythm and grooves. Thank goodness then for the visiting South Africans of Vuyani Dance Theatre.

BWW Review: MAMMA MIA! Celebrates the Power of Family, Friendship and Love

Directors for MAMMA MIA! at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, Keenon Hooks and Fred Helsel, with Fred Helsel as Producer, Keenon Hooks as Choreographer, and Mazie Rudolph as Musical Director, prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that this musical is just as much fun in a smaller theater thanks to the talented cast who really enjoy every moment they appear onstage, with a lively band that really enjoys performing the ABBA score. The overall enthusiasm displayed by all draw the audience in to the action, especially by the finales when everyone was up on their feet, singing and dancing along.

World Premiere Play GOING DOWN To Star Brooke Procida And Austin Rapp

In 1996, Brooke Procida was portraying high-school student Donna Santangelo on ABC/Warner Brothers long running hit comedy, Family Matters, with Jaleel White and Reginald Vel Johnson. Struck by severe, un-diagnosable illness, Brooke was forced to leave the show and Hollywood in order to heal what was much later discovered to be long term, chronic Lyme disease. After fully curing and overcoming a disease that most struggle to even get diagnosed, Brooke boldly returns to Hollywood in this gripping new one act play to be mounted at the iconic Whitmore-Lindley theatre complex in North Hollywood.

BWW Review: 42ND STREET: Thunderous Opening For The Umbrella Stage Company

The red velvet curtain rises on about a dozen pairs of feet tapping up a storm, but there are a few hundred more dancing their way out of the Umbrella Community Arts Center after they pay a visit to 42ND STREET, the blockbuster grand opening production of the Umbrella Stage Company, Greater Boston's newest professional theater in Concord. The 344-seat, state-of-the-art main stage is airy and comfortable, with a generous rake to provide unobstructed viewing from every row. Kicking off the season with the quintessential backstage musical is a stroke of genius that celebrates the performing arts and generates excitement for the Umbrella.
